Support a Wonderful Cause on #GivingThursday!
CAMP I-THONKA-CHI, BURN CAMP
Near Dallas, TX
On February 1, 1962, my family home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, was ravaged by fire. We lost our father, Richard Foulk, and overnight, my mother became a widow with three young girls to support and raise alone.
My cookbook, Cooking Soup to Nuts, is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Grace Foulk, who passed away in January, 2016. She loved soup and tasted almost every recipe in the book. Like me, she knew that making and eating soup represents caring and comfort at its best.
ABOUT CAMP I-THONKA-CHI IN TEXAS
Camp I-Thonka-Chi, meaning “a place that makes one strong or fearless, not afraid to face life”
Each summer, pediatric burn survivors age 6 to 18 travel about two hours from Dallas to a free camp worlds away from their daily worries – where what is on the inside counts much more than what we see on the outside.
In honor of #GivingTuesday and my mother, I am donating a portion of the proceeds from each book’s sale to a cause she would have loved:
Camp I-Thonka-Chi
whose mission is to help kids who are severely scarred from burns.
