Green Drinks Annapolis Tomorrow!

St. John's College, 60 College Avenue, Mellon Auditorium

Plan for parking, use the City's free holiday parking program, Parkmobile code: ParkDTA

Join us for the last Green Drinks of the year. Gratitude for our green community is the theme! We celebrate the year's successes and highlight local Maryland Green Registry members. You'll get a few sustainable shopping ideas and a chance to check out the made+ skiff shoe! The evening’s spread, entertainment, and beverages come from partners we are so grateful for: Forward Brewing, Annapolis Market House, RASA Juice Shop, Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits, and music by The Sandpipers -- connected to us by our longtime friend and volunteer, Mike Lungociu.

St. John’s College, our host, has many exemplary sustainable practices in play. From rain gardens to collecting food waste with Waste Neutral and nearly wiping out single-use water bottles via dispensers and our NAPTOWN TAPs, for outdoor events like the Annapolis Cup croquet match.

There is a reason why we love being on the St. John’s campus. At our last Green Drinks at St. John’s, guests toured the newly installed living shoreline. This Green Drinks, you might hear about the bookstore renovation, set to re-introduce a beloved white oak back onto campus grounds as tables. St.John’s has also been a Maryland Green Registry member since 2017, one of the few higher education organizations on the list.

What is the Maryland Green Registry?

The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) program was started in 2009, offering tips and resources to help businesses and other organizations set and meet their sustainability goals. Annapolis businesses comprise 34 of the over 600 member profiles on the registry. In 2024, Annapolis Green is setting out to increase that number. Tomorrow kicks off that effort, and we welcome your energy and support. MDE will be there with resources to get us started.

Our Green Drinks Sponsors:

In Home Stone, situated in the heart of the Greater Annapolis Design District, has steadily grown its operations since arriving in 2005. The company loves being part of such a vibrant and flourishing community and relishes the opportunity to install stone countertops and select tile projects for local businesses that make Annapolis unique. Their reputation for quality work and a caring workplace has made a mark on the many who have encountered their warehouse and showroom on Virginia St, whether to buy stone or to attend epic fundraisers for local charities like The Foundation for Community Betterment and the Oyster Recovery Partnership. In Home Stone enters our environmental fold as an event sponsor tonight and, soon, our next Annapolis-based Maryland Green Registry member.

What can we say about Fast Signs? Most in Annapolis already know - they are reliable, helpful, friendly, and … fast. Annapolis Green could not pull off the volume of events we do without their services, including every NAPTOWN TAP appearance. Fast Signs is our go-to for the branded panels at every plastic-free event the TAPs make possible. Leigh Rand, owner of Fast Signs of Annapolis, has been a champion of the zero waste efforts of the Annapolis Rotary Crab Feast during her time as both the Event Chair and Green Team leader. Most recently, she was a valued volunteer at last year’s Military Bowl effort, helping with the heavy lifts! Thank you, Leigh, for steadfastly supporting our vision for a healthy planet and vibrant Annapolis community.

made+ is an Annapolis-based footwear company pioneering planet-positive manufacturing with an innovative and simplified approach to making shoes.

By leveraging local micro-factories and a made-to-order system, made+ is reinventing the traditionally wasteful shoe manufacturing process — reducing a complex 300-step manufacturing process to fewer than 50 — dramatically eliminating negative environmental impacts and leading to diminished carbon emissions, less energy waste, plus avoiding water over consumption and excess material use.

The brand’s innovative approach to making shoes not only ensures quality, fit, and performance but also aligns with a responsible, environmentally conscious lifestyle.

Try on made+ Shoes and Shop Wonky Wick Candles

Some things are just hard to shop for online! Scented candles and shoes are on top of that list. We are so grateful to have new partners like made+ and Green & Bean Boutique, who recently worked with us to revive our Reclaim the Cork program, presenting their products exclusively for our Green community tomorrow night.

This special edition Wonky Wick candle donates $5 per candle to support cork shipping costs from our epic November 15 collection effort. Each Wonky Wick candle is made with 100% soy wax and enhanced with pure essential oils. They are poured into a repurposed bottle, then hand-cut and sanded down to create a delightfully off-kilter candle with a lingering scent of whimsy. Many scents will be available tomorrow, so you can sniff before buying.

Stop by the made+ table to try various sizes of the skiff shoe to find your perfect fit and color scheme. made+ will also participate in Midnight Madness in Annapolis in partnership with 727 Sail. By choosing made+ footwear, you're making a conscious decision that positively impacts our planet without sacrificing look and feel. The brand’s debut collection offers a breathable sock-like fit, which means no “breaking-in.” Try for yourself tomorrow.
