PREPARED. It's what we hope to be true about each child at New Life Children's Home and each child in our surrounding community. We pray that as they move into adulthood, they are prepared to live a Christ-centered, fruitful life.

One of the most important ways we are preparing the children here is by providing a quality, Christ-centered education through New Life Christian School. We are working hard to overturn the alarming educational statistics in Guatemala*. While over 90% of children here begin kindergarten:
  • Only about 35% make it through 8th grade.
  • Less than 20% graduate high school.
  • 59.3% of Guatemalans live in poverty or extreme poverty.

New Life Christian School  has been serving our home kids and the community for about 25 years. A few years ago, we initiated a    school expansion project  which will allow us to add high school classes to our current grades (preschool - 9th grade), and expand our one-of-a-kind special education program. This project is well on its way to completion. Phases I & II have been funded and construction will be completed within the next few months. We now turn to the full funding of Phase III, which requires $967,000. We are praying that this goal is met and construction is completed in time to offer high school classes in 2020.

Caring for a child means providing a safe environment where they experience the love of Jesus, and the healing from past hurts and trauma that only Christ's love can bring. It also means training them up in the way they should go, and providing the education they will need to support themselves and their families in the future. Providing a child with a quality, Christian education from preschool through high school graduation is arguably the BEST way to prepare him or her for adulthood.
