Greetings Community,

It is at this time of year where we take pause to consider what is important and what we hold dear. We are so grateful to be thriving once again after a challenging couple of years. Now that our home is safe and sound and our community is growing and evolving once again, it is time to put some energy into our Non-Profit arm, AYF. We are ready to pump some life back into a mission that is close to our hearts and we'd love to share with you, some of our latest scholarship awardees/graduates, who are doing amazing things. Yoga really does change lives and sharing it can be so powerful.

Abhaya Yoga Foundation (AYF) is a Non-Profit 501C3 dedicated to offering high quality yoga education, mindfulness, and healthy lifestyle practices to disadvantaged groups who would normally not have access, due either to financial hardship and/or exclusion.

With the support of community members like you, AYF is able to offer scholarships allowing yoga education to become accessible and widen it's reach.

AYF focuses on awarding scholarships to groups affected below as well as those with intersection amongst the groups:

  • BIPOC
  • API
  • LBGTQ+
  • Trauma survivors

We invite you to sponsor our next group of graduates, any donation takes them one step closer to sharing the great gift of yoga.

Thank you so much for your consideration,

Tara and the AYF Board

Soon to be YTT 200 Grad

" I was very intentional about where I chose to earn my 200HR training from, and the curriculum at Abhaya is inclusive of the history and lineage of Yoga. I am hoping to also offer classes in Bangla to reach immigrants in my community, while pairing with friends who speak other languages that are interested in joining me as we bring this connected experience to sessions catering to a larger diversity of immigrant communities that NYC is so enriched with!"

200 YTT Grad

Personally the training helped me get a better understanding of myself and my unique inner world. I learned how to ease my mind and tap into my inner voice pushing beyond ego to truly connect with not only myself but to others and the world around me. The biggest benefit was learning the Yamas and Niyamas. Essentially how to respect and treat myself translates into how I respect and treat others and the world. It might all seem like common sense. Be kind, don’t judge, help others, but in the chaos of our world it’s something we can forget to do. I feel the tenants of the Yama and Niyamas in the eightfold path is what we need more people to know about so that more people can access self awareness and love".

"The benefits of Abhaya training reach beyond personal growth; they extend outward, amplifying the impact of yoga education. My journey with yoga has taught me the profound importance of holding space, a wisdom I carry into my work as a psychology professor. It entails creating a transformative environment rich with presence, active listening, and an unwavering commitment to each student's unique journey. By infusing yoga principles into my teaching, I aim to provide a holistic education that transcends academic knowledge. This approach fosters not only intellectual growth but also emphasizes the invaluable benefits of mindfulness and self-awareness. Rather than dictating, my role is to guide, empowering students to authentically navigate their studies and cultivate a sense of security in expressing themselves."
