AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO 2023

As we wrap up 2022, we at Fairfax State Savings Bank are thankful for the relationships we've built with our customers and our community.

Our emphasis on relationship banking and the belief that our success increases when we help you, our customers, become successful continues to ring true as we move forward into 2023.

Our late past bank president David Neuhaus used to say, "Banking is a people business," as we consider his legacy and some of the great community projects the bank has been involved with this year, his sentiment rings true. We will continue to "Do the next right thing."

REMEMBERING PAST BANK PRESIDENT DAVID NEUHAUS AND HIS IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY

Dave Neuhaus, FSSB past president, passed away last month. His family, the bank and our community mourn his loss while celebrating the life he lived and the impact he had on all of us.

In this month's video we talk to President and CEO Patrick Slater about Dave Neuhaus' legacy and how Fairfax State Savings Bank concentrates on building relationships and following Dave's example as a hard-working, kind, humble, generous man.

Hear survivor stories and relive memories from the 2022 race in this short video. Thank you for helping support free mammograms and other breast-care and gynecological services for area individuals in need!

The Especially for You® Race Against Breast Cancer raises money for mammograms and other breast-care services to those in need in the Cedar Rapids area.

Our community showed up in record numbers to help others this fall. The Fairfax State Savings Bank Especially for You® team boasted over 500 members this year - second only to Mercy Medical Center.

Our recruitment and participation helped reach a record number of over 15,800 registrants and raise more than $499,500.

COMMUNITY BANKING IS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

#GIVINGTUESDAY

After a record setting event in 2021, Fairfax State Savings Bank pledged to increase its 2022 #GivingTuesday donations match to the Mercy Foundation up to $20,000 total. The challenge goal was met and surpassed to raise over $75,300 during this annual event!

WAYPOINT TOY DRIVE

YOU helped us collect toys for this years' annual Waypoint Wonderland celebration. We collected donated brand new toys, books, games, and household items for parents at the bank - dropped by our customers and members of the community.

Waypoint Wonderland is a celebration that provides holiday gifts to children of families who are experiencing homelessness, poverty, or violence.

Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of area children.

A WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT AND SERVICE

Elaina Kempin, Assistant Vice President and Director of Marketing at Fairfax State Savings Bank, was recently honored as a 2023 Waypoint Woman of Influence.

Well known for her drive to improve someone's day by helping in any way she can, Elaina is skilled in identifying opportunities, solutions and collaboration. This is demonstrated by her impact in Fairfax, Cedar Rapids and the various nonprofits she serves; including The APG Foundation, Riverview Center, Chi Omega Fraternities, Iowa Banker's Association, The Steering Committee, Coe College Corridor Network, Habitat for Humanity, and Professional Women's Network.
