Operation Warm Fuzzy Donation & Volunteer Legacy Campaign

Sarah Fallon Sullivan today with daughter Sadie

In 2004 Sarah Fallon contacted CFGC, to share her idea of creating warm, fuzzy blankets for less fortunate children. Sarah was 16 at the time, and had such a compassion and initiative to create a way to comfort the children through her Operation Warm Fuzzy Project (OWF). We cannot emphasize enough the positive impact the OWF blankets have made on our clients.

Thousands of children have received free blankets.

Each new client selects their very own OWF at the end of their first therapy session. Many children immediately hug them to their chest and rub their face in the soft material. At that moment the child feels special and loved. The blankets offer more than warmth; they represent the symbolic bond that develops between the therapist and client throughout the therapy process.

The blankets mean so much to the children after they leave the Center.

One grandmother shared the experience of her grandchildren, who were clients of the Center in 2005: “The OWF blanket is very powerful, very special. It was always there for my grandchildren when what they needed wasn’t around. When they had been displaced and abandoned the blanket was something warm and safe that was always there. They still have the blankets today.”

Before Sarah went off to college she enlisted two Sherman ISD seniors to carry on the project. The program was passed each year to leadership students and is still going on today through Sisters of Service and community volunteers.

We extend sincere appreciation to Sarah and all of the OWF students who led the project over the years.
