LIVE THEATRE RETURNS TO LUTHER
"The most essential component of live theatre is not the lights, the costumes, the music, or even the actors. It is the audience. While we can all be proud of the creative ways we've found to connect during this pandemic, this time left us knowing without a doubt what we need in order to kindle the magic so unique to theatre." - Robert Vrtis, Associate Professor of Theatre

CELEBRATING THE CLASS OF 2020
"In a time that continues to feel like sailing without a rudder in uncharted waters, we all need some familiarity. We all need to come home every once in awhile. Luther is still home and we know it always will be." – John Lof '20
The Class of 2020 returned home to campus October 29-31 to celebrate and reconnect after a difficult finish to their senior year. The weekend included a variety of activities, including a ceremony to commemorate their graduation. Congratulations, again, Class of 2020!
UPDATES & EVENTS
ONE TEAM GIVING DAY
One Team Day is back on Thursday, November 18! Funds raised during One Team Day will go directly towards Luther's student-athletes as they continue to work hard, inspire one another, and uphold the proud Norse traditions established by decades of Luther teammates. With over $85,000 available in matching challenge dollars, your donation will be matched, dollar for dollar, while funds last, maximizing your impact on Luther athletics.
CHRISTMAS AT LUTHER 2021
Luther's annual Christmas music celebration returns December 2-5, with both in-person and livestream/on-demand ticket options still available! To promote the safety of our community, patrons are required to wear masks in the CFL Main Hall. Now in its 40th year, Christmas at Luther features five choirs, the Symphony Orchestra, Luther ringers, and audience singing.
2021 BLACK ALUMNI ASSOCIATION HOLIDAY TREAT BAG CAMPAIGN
Join the BAA in supporting all current students of color with a "holiday treat bag" in the form of Decorah Chamber Dollars certificates, which can be used at almost every Decorah area business! The certificates are $25 each and will be distributed to students in December.
In addition to supporting students, five dollars from each certificate purchased in 2021 will be directed to the Center for Intercultural Engagement and Student Success (CIES) Book Fund.
JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2022 VIRTUAL ALUMNI BOOK CLUB
Moderated by Suzanne (Knoll) Hales '65 and Jackie (Boe) Karras '76, the next virtual alumni book club will meet on Zoom Tuesdays from 5-6:30 p.m. CST January 18 - February 22, 2022. This book club will discuss Wallace Stegner's uniquely American classic Angle of Repose. Set in many parts in the West, Angle of Repose is a story of discovery - personal, historical, and geographical - that endures as Stegner's masterwork.

ESTATE GIFT TO BENEFIT THE INTERNATIONAL STUDIES PROGRAM
A generous estate gift from John ’70 and Barbara Melin will be used to establish the Rev. John and Barbara Melin Professorship in International Studies at Luther College. Luther is one of only a handful of colleges in the Midwest offering a major in international studies, which provides students with the academic tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in this global, interconnected world.
