Glad Tidings and Happy Endings...

2018 turns to 2019
The end of 2018 for me personally has been a roller coaster of blessings and wonderful experiences.

First of all, we finally moved into our forever home. If any of my family is reading this, I know their eyes just rolled back into their head since I have a history of moving every few years but this time I mean it.

Our new home has all we could ask for in a very lovely neighborhood. Besides, this move just about killed me (only barely joking!) and I don't ever want to do that again. It wasn't just the physical work; it was also trying to get everything done while keeping up with work and Thanksgiving and getting ready for Christmas. Exhausting!!

Second, it was my birthday last week and my daughters, out of the blue, asked me to go to Disneyland! I LOVE Disneyland. We celebrated my 60th there last year and it is my absolute favorite place to be on my birthday!

Disneyland Group Caricature
It was a magical day with the two women most dear to me in the world and we even had caricatures done! (This is the real one at left!). Going on a Tuesday in December was pretty sweet too -- the park was busy but not overwhelmingly so, their holiday decorations were all up and we got to ride everything we wanted. Very nice!

But finally, the most important thing to happen in the last two weeks is that I got engaged! Yes, the boyfriend (now aka fiancé) asked me to marry him. This would be exciting for anyone but for a lifelong 'single' like me, it was gloriously special.

I got married at 18 and divorced at 26. There were one or two other longish term dating experiences over the years but truly I was mostly alone and had pretty much given up on ever finding 'the one'. And yet, one email and three years later, here we are!

Love Birds
Yes, we met online and our story is a bit remarkable -- at least I think it is. Like I said, I have been alone for most of my adult life which means I am independent and picky and a bit controlling (did you just roll your eyes again in the 'like, duh!' way? Yes, yes, I hear you!).

So I was at my sister's house playing cards one weekend and one of her friends was there, Marie. Marie was happily married to Bill, a man she met online and they were so cute together. You could totally tell they were madly in love. Both happy for her and a bit melancholy, I thought 'why can't I have that?'.

But then I pulled myself together mentally and set an intention. Silently I said a prayer 'Please bring me the right person. It's my turn and I'm ready'. And then I thought about what the right person would be like.

Not an hour later -- I kid you not -- I get an email alert from a dating app. It was Dan. I cannot recall what the email said but I emailed him back and said I'd be in the car the next day at 11am, driving for two hours back to my house and if he wanted to call me to talk he was welcome to do so.

Then I forgot about it. The next day, promptly at 11am, he calls me and says, "I really want to talk with you but I'm tied up right now and would it be okay to call you later this evening?"

What? Who does that? Color me instantly impressed!

Online Dating App on Phone
So we talked later and set a meeting for Tuesday and we've been together ever since. It's now been almost three years and I couldn't be happier. That one email, even though I have no idea what it said, changed my life forever!

You know, I never thought I'd ever get married again and certainly not so late in life. But I can't wait to marry him. And no, we haven't set a date (I know you were thinking of asking).

Here's the deal. My life has always been pretty great even though I have been alone. Not without its ups and downs of course, but I'm a positive person and have been seriously blessed with the ability to manifest good and wonderful things -- both material and spiritual.

Except, that is, for being able to find someone who treats me properly, who makes me laugh and who is an equal partner. Now, finally, that has happened.

Never Give Up on Love
The lesson for me, and I hope for you, is to never give up hope. No matter what it is you're looking for; never give up hope because you don't know when or how what you want will manifest. Sometimes what you think you want is not what you need. And sometimes what you think you want may show up in a different form than you expect.

This is true for relationships and business dealings, money and health. We can have anything we want in life. It is our life and there is absolutely no reason to suffer. Choose happiness. Choose joy. Choose to believe that only good will come to you.

And it will.

I'm not quite sure how 2019 could get any better than 2018 has ended, but I'm looking forward with eager anticipation.

Here's wishing you and yours all the very best. Happy Holidays!
