President’s Remarks - Focus on the Future

Last week the 2025 Annual Membership Meeting for the Glade Springs Village POA was held. Approximately 85 members attended to hear about the association and ask questions. The results of the election for two Board positions were announced at this time. Rick Lay was reelected to the Board and we welcome Richard Jarrell, who was elected to the other open seat. Each of these seats are for a three year term. Thank you to the members who assisted with the election process: Tom Lemke, Bob Butsch, Joy Schambach, Debora Scott, Pat Slack, and Steph Cramblet.

Leaving the Board after many years of service to our community is Rennie Hill. He served on the finance committee prior to taking a seat on the Board in 2021. He has been instrumental in making our POA successful in the past 6 years. I personally have learned so much about our community from Rennie and have valued his guidance and advice as we have faced many challenges. Rennie will be missed by our staff and the Board. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to Rennie and Ann for your commitment to Glade Springs.

As president, I am proud of what this Board and staff have accomplished in the past year. This group functions well together and works as a team. We successfully negotiated a settlement with Glade Springs Resort as well as Cooper Development to end most of our legal challenges. After experiencing some turnover this past year, we have new administrative staff in our office who are dedicated to serving our members.

The new golf agreement was a joint effort between our staff, the Board, and the resort. The group who worked on this agreement were well versed in the golf industry. The agreement was reviewed by legal counsel from both parties and will hopefully increase the POA golf revenues and strengthen the resort.

We faced a challenge last summer with the drought devastating Woodhaven and the departure of our golf superintendent. Our staff pulled together, made some hard decisions and with the help of many, including Ronnie Adkins, JW Hamm, Keith Honaker and our entire golf staff the course been restored and is in great condition. There is still work to be done but tremendous progress has been made.

The Haven was successfully opened last August and was the site of many fun community events last fall with plans for more this coming season. We can now Focus on the Future of our community and continue to work towards healing the divisions in our community.

Message from our General Manager

Dear Community Members:

I am not sure how everyone feels about it, but I am ready for some warmer, dryer weather. Matt Felber and his golf staff are geared up for the golf season and would love a little sunshine.

Speaking of the golf season, Matt and Jimmy have been checking in lots of new merchandise at the Woodhaven Shop, and they just finished putting a large new clothing order on the shelves. It is an ideal time to do a little shopping, and while you are there drop into the Haven for a bite to eat and something to quench your thirst.

Although we have not had ideal pool weather, the Woodhaven pool did open Memorial weekend and will be opened from 11:00am to 7:00pm each day except Tuesdays through Labor Day.

Other than normal outdoor activities, our committees are initiating new procedures to add to the safety and security of the Community. Some new rules are being put in place regarding golf cart usage in the Village, and Security Is taking a more active role in monitoring rules compliance in our Community.

Regarding Security’s compliance efforts, if you discover a notice placed on your door advising you of an observed rule issue, please know this is just a friendly reminder and will be followed by a friendly letter reminder. Whatever rule might be the subject of the notice, be aware that the Community has these rules to promote a comfortable, orderly and pleasing-to-the-eye neighborhood for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.

I am sure most of you are aware that the ownership of the Resort has opted to market the Resort and this fact has created a loss of momentum in our improving cooperation with the Resort. While the cooperation started earlier continues, the POA looks forward to the end of the sale process to allow it to move forward in other areas where the parties can find common ground and employ synergies to strengthen the Community and find ways to reduce costs.

Any successes the POA is lucky enough to experience can never be achieved without the efforts of our staff and the many volunteers who participate in a wide range of activities.

I want to thank our staff and volunteers for all you do, for it makes the POA stronger and better able to serve the Community.

As we start the summer, the POA hopes everyone creates a lot of fond memories this season, and as always when the need arises, give us a call (304-763-5382) or stop by the office weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Message from our Director of Golf

As the 2025 golf season continues we are finally getting some favorable weather. We are continuing to move in the right direction with our renovation at Woodhaven and Stonehaven has started this season in great shape despite our cold and wet spring. Our members and guests have made positive comments on both courses. Our hard work is paying off!

I would like to thank the staff along with JW Hamm and Keith Honaker for their continued guidance and hard work. Our POA Member/Member will be held on July 12-13 and sign-ups are available at the Stonehaven Starter House and the Woodhaven golf shop. The entry fee is $80 per person cash only and will be collected at registration. The deadline for registration is July 9, 2025 at 12:00pm.

As a reminder to all members and guests - all rental carts and seasonal lease carts will come from the Cobb Pro Shop. All members and guests using a fleet rental must check in and pay at the Cobb Pro Shop before play. The Cobb Pro Shop will issue a receipt to be presented at the Stonehaven Starter Building.

GSVPOA Members with a private cart or a guest riding in a member's private cart will check-in directly at the Stonehaven Starter House. Those fees will be directly paid at the Stonehaven Starter House. The players who have reserved a tee time on Stonehaven or Woodhaven will have the option to purchase range balls for use at the Cobb practice facility.

The golf staff will continue to enforce and explain the golf rules as approved by the GSVPOA Board of Directors and posted on the POA website in September. (POA Golf Rules). Please be aware our staff will do their best to explain and answer any questions as they arise with enforcement.

All private carts using a trail pass must have their trail pass displayed on the cart they are using when playing Stonehaven. Any members or guests using a private cart without a trail pass or unpaid cart and/or guest fees will be subject to a fine.

For online tee time booking, please follow these directions:

  • Go to the website (gladespringspoa.com) and click on the member tee times at the top.
  • Click on login/sign-up
  • Fill out the right hand side information under "sign-up"
  • Save the information and then logout and then log back in and it will take you into the member side.
  • Note - the username must be the email currently on file.

If you have any questions, please call or email: matt.felber@gladespringspoa.com.

Please remember that all carts should be on the cart paths around tees and greens. All par 3 holes are ALWAYS cart path only.

Please keep carts at lease 30 yards from the green when cart rules permit. Please do not drive on the opposite side of the green from where the path is located. This traffic will continue to wear areas in the rough around the greens. This is especially important in cold weather months when the grass isn’t growing. When you approach the green complex please proceed to the path.

To receive daily course conditions, please scan the QR code at the Stonehaven Starter House or Woodhaven Pro Shop. Please answer the questions in the first text so we can update your information and edit our text database. This system will be utilized for cart rules, exciting new information, and other direct to member texts.

Please call or email us with any questions or concerns.

Coming Changes to the ACC Rules and Regulations

The ACC Committee is finalizing some important changes to our Rules and Regulations. Once finalized by the committee, they will be reviewed and approved or amended by the Board of Directors. All approved changes will be published to the POA members for review and comments for 30 days before becoming permanent.

  1. Requiring all Village golf carts to be registered with the POA office and provide proof of insurance with the POA named as an 'Additionally Insured' party
  2. Only licensed drivers may operate a golf cart within Glade Springs Village.
  3. Parking within 100' of an intersection during loading or unloading of school students is prohibited. This causes difficulty for our residents to navigate through these intersections.
  4. Power boats using Chatham Lake must belong to property owners and be operated by our members. This is a private lake for the enjoyment of our members. Non-powered boats and watercraft may belong to guests of members provided they are accompanying the guests. Power boats must be registered at the POA office. Proof of insurance is required showing the POA as an 'Additional Insured'. Only licensed drivers may operate a powered boat. This is a current regulation, just being made clearer.
