Dear Community Members:
Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday, March 10, 2024; don't forget to adjust your clocks forward.
As the Ides of March brings the spring to us, you may be thinking of making changes and updates to the exterior of your home. This is a reminder that all of the homes in the POA that are making any exterior changes to your home require a permit from the ACC before any changes are made or started.. You can obtain a copy of the current ACC Rules and Regulations by clicking this link to ACC Rules and Regulations. (Phase One owners, please contact the ARB Board for information on their current requirements.).
If you have trees that need to be removed, you can access the tree removal form online at Link to Tree Removal Form. All trees must be marked by the owner with brightly colored tape before the trees are inspected and a permit is issued for removal. If you need the tape to mark the tree it can be purchased at cost from the POA office for $3.00 a roll. (Phase One owners, please contact the ARB Board for information on their current requirements.).
Trail passes are available at the Woodhaven Pro shop, if you need information on a golf trail pass, please reach out to the Woodhaven Pro shop. They will be happy to help you.
Respectfully yours,
Linda Horensavitz, PCAM
General Manager

Glade Springs Village Property Owners,
As we begin to transition from winter to early spring, we can all feel the buzz around the property! The courses are beginning to wake up, hints of color are starting to pop, and it’s invigorating watching everything come alive. Anticipation for the golf season is always high, but we must be patient. The Turf Care team has to remain sharp and prepared for inconsistent conditions with precious little time to remedy any surprises that the course incurred over the winter. No matter how excited we are to be back on course, we have to proceed with caution. We have a plan in place to provide the best playing conditions that are possible now, but more importantly, to ensure the course will be in championship form a few short weeks down the road.
Course:
We are rolling all fine surfaces to smooth any irregularities that inevitably will occur from soil expansion and/or heaving from our regular freeze and thaw. Heights of cut have been raised to reduce the risk of damage and to assist in the spring clean-up. Following the initial cut, we are supplementing with regular mowing and rolling, as needed, until all systems are equipped with actively growing turf.
We do not want to push the course too hard this time of year. As we all know, here, we are susceptible to non-uniform temperature fluctuations. If we were to experience a warm spell and push for an early green-up, it would be extremely counterproductive. If followed by a sharp decrease in temperature, and even worse, coupled with snow and ice, we would be on our heels for months. Positioning us poorly moving forward into the golf season.
Spring aeration is right around the corner, so please remember that aeration might create a short-term disruption in your game, but the long-term benefits greatly outweigh the inconvenience.
Cart Rule:
Be prepared for cart restrictions in the early spring. In this area of the country, we are exposed to snowmelt and slowly thawing soil profiles. Saturated soils, in conjunction with slow turf growth, mean that fine turf areas will stay wetter longer in the early spring. Once these soft conditions are combined with cart traffic, rutting, and soil compaction are inevitable. So please stay aware of the daily cart rule and realize that any restriction is for the benefit of us all and will begin to relax in the coming weeks.
It’s always exciting to see everyone back on course, but we must remember to be patient. It is early in the season, and there are plenty of good days to come. So, I hope you enjoy being outdoors, and know that we are working diligently to ensure your golf course will be in the best possible condition as the season progresses.
Thank You,
Patrick Murphy,
Golf Course Superintendent

Call for Nominations for the
GSVPOA Board of Directors
| |
|
Glade Springs Village Property Owners Association, Inc. is calling for nominations for one seat on the Board of Directors. The seat is for a three-year term expiring in 2027. As the Bylaws mandate, a nominating committee has been formed consisting of the current Board of Directors as well as representatives from our community. The nominating committee, therefore, is soliciting nominations for the Board from our POA members who are eligible to vote.
Eligibility requirements for voting as well as sitting on the Board require that the member is current with all assessments and there are no outstanding violations.
To nominate an eligible person to serve in this position, please use the nomination form below. Please complete it and mail it to the POA office or email it to info@gladespringspoa.com. The nomination form (see below) must be used to submit a nomination for this Board seat. A nomination made by any other means is not valid and will not be considered. Nominations will be open until 4:00 PM on March 21, 2024, and all applications (including those submitted by email as well as paper copies) MUST be received at the POA office before the deadline to be considered valid.
The nominating committee will review each nomination form and schedule an interview with each candidate. These interviews will be in person and will be scheduled for March 27 and March 28, 2024.
The nominating committee for the 2024 election will be:
- Carolyn Hefner
- Tom Lemke
- Ken Dunlap
After the interviews are completed, the nominating committee will nominate one or more members for the open Board seat that they believe will serve the best interests of GSVPOA and its membership. After the final slate of nominees is determined by the GSVPOA Board, each eligible voting member will be mailed a paper ballot around April 15, 2024.
Only ballots with one vote for each candidate will be counted. Ballots with no markings or both “For” and “Against” marked will not be counted as valid ballots. Under no circumstances will a write-in vote or votes be counted.
All ballots must be received or postmarked on or before May 15, 2024. They should be sent to the attention of the President of the Board of Directors using the self-addressed return envelopes included with the ballots. Upon receipt of each ballot, the President shall place the ballots in a secure place, and they shall not be opened until the date of the election count. The nominating committee and the Board of Directors will be asking two members to observe the count as witnesses.
The results of the election shall be announced at the Annual meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the Glade Community Church.

Emergency Services Information | |
|
When you call law enforcement, they will respond in the following manner:
The City Police vehicles and West Virginia State Troopers vehicles are both outfitted with a CAD computer system unit. The CAD allows the officers to be notified of the 911 call for service as the 911 call center operators enter the calls for service into the system. The officers will respond to calls in real-time. Officers can also be dispatched through the 911 call center to areas of need. A non-emergency call to the police will still come up on the CAD system for the officers. Available officers will respond to non-emergency calls in order of priority. Sometimes they can respond right away, and other times that means the call must wait while other, more serious issues are addressed first.
When you call for ambulance service:
Jan Care keeps an ambulance at the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department. The Glade Springs calls for service are first sent to the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department; if they do not currently have an ambulance or the needed equipment available, then the call will be sent to the Ghent Fire Department for service. The 911 call center has a list of what fire departments to call for service in each area and in what order. The fire trucks in our area are now manned with fully trained paramedics and EMTs to assist the public. At times, you may have a fire truck arrive in the area to assist you first, but they are fully manned with paramedics and EMTs to care for you. In most cases, emergency services will arrive through the front gate of the community. Arrangements have been made to make back gate access via a gate pass available to the local fire department ambulance.
The Glade Springs guard's primary responsibilities are to observe and report. They are trained in basic first aid and the use of AED equipment. The guards are not authorized to arrest or act as police.
For all emergency services including medical emergencies and police assistance
please call 911 directly.
A special thank you to Greg Duckworth, Glade Springs head of security, and John Zilinski, 911 Call Center Director, for the information provided.
