The Glade Springs
Villager

September 2025

From Your POA Board of Directors

The summer has flown by and it’s (almost) fall! The Board of Directors welcomed Richard Jarrell after his election in May. Our first order of business was to elect officers to serve from June 2025 through May 2026. The officers for Glade Springs Village Board of Directors are Betty Callender, President; Rick Lay, Vice President; Steve Thompson, Secretary; and Nancy Kissinger, Treasurer. Richard Jarrell will serve as a director at large while he learns the work of the Board. Please feel free to contact any of us directly with your questions and concerns.

We are so proud of our golf staff who have worked tirelessly to restore Woodhaven and Stonehaven to a condition we have not seen for many seasons. Thank you to all in those responsible, but I would like to specifically mention Matt Felber, JW Hamm, and Keith Honecker. We have heard many compliments about the courses from members as well as the public and we need to give credit to these leaders as well as our hard-working golf crew.

The Board appreciates the support of our community as we move forward with some changes in our rules related to golf carts and our roads which will lead to a safer community. We know change is never easy but safety must be our first priority.

And lastly, a big thank you to those who serve on the various committees in our community. There is always room for more volunteers, so if you are interested in helping serve your community in some fashion, let one of the Board members know and we will find the right place for your talents.

Thank you,

Betty Callender, President

GSVPOA Board of Directors

A Message from the General Manager

Dear Community Members:

Golf Digest’s 2025 course ratings place all three Glade courses in their Top 10 courses in West Virginia. Those ratings required hard work and dedication by our staff. Our maintenance budgets are complimented by our folks who work hard to keep our Stonehaven and Woodhaven Courses as places golfers want to play and the community as a place many want to visit and/or live.

Community is a versatile word. Oftentimes “community” refers to an area, more of a geographical designation. In other circumstances, “community” refers to a group of residents sharing certain common feelings or feeling a sense of belonging.  An amazing thing about the Glade Community is how residents join together to provide new community experiences.

In August, the POA began offering a Monday night Happy Hour at the Haven. Members are enjoying the chance to get together, chat, share a bite and be a community. By the time we publish this newsletter, our season ending party at Woodhaven will be held. The many volunteers and their great ideas made this event a huge success.

On September 20, plans are well underway for a community clean-up effort driven by volunteers, and you can be one of those. Look for notices that will guide you if you wish to be involved. These events represent real momentum for doing new things and expanding the tried-and-true things.

Get involved today!

I would also like to mention the cooperation and assistance provided by the Resort staff aiding the POA in its efforts. From the golf course to the back office to the administration, their help and spirit of cooperation is greatly appreciated.

As we transition to fall, we hope everyone is ready for more good things to come, and as always, if or when the need arises, give us a call (304-763-5382), stop by the office weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm, or send an email to info@gladespringspoa.com.

Let’s have a great fall season.

David Harrah

General Manager

A Message from the Director of Golf

Glade Springs Village Property Owners,

As we enter September there will be a larger presence on the golf course by our staff, especially in the evenings, to make sure that private carts have valid trail passes. Those members in private carts without trail passes may be photographed and turned into the POA office and Board of Directors. Letters and appropriate fines will be attached to those members that do not have valid trail passes.

The Board of Directors and Greens Committee have our staff and other members to please send photos of carts without a valid Trail Pass and those private carts that are driving carts in areas that are off limits.

The specific areas to be enforced will be par 3 holes and areas around tees and greens. These areas are always to be cart path only. No players should be driving around greens on the opposite side of the cart path. Our GPS-enabled fleet carts at Stonehaven are locked out of these areas. The cart directional signs in the fairways will direct carts to the cart path side of the green. If anyone has any questions or photographs of concerns, please contact myself via email at matt.felber@gladespringspoa.com.

The golf staff will continue to enforce and explain the golf rules as approved by the GSVPOA Board of Directors and posted on the POA website. Please be aware our staff will do their best to explain and answer any questions as they arise with enforcement.

All private carts using a trail pass must have their trail pass displayed on the cart they are using when playing either POA course. Any members or guests using a private cart without a trail pass or unpaid cart and/or guest fees will be subject to a fine.

For online tee time booking, please follow these directions and if you have any questions, please email: matt.felber@gladespringspoa.com.

Go to the website (gladespringspoa.com) and click on the member tee times at the top.

  • Click on login/sign-up
  • Fill out the right hand side information under "sign-up"
  • Save the information and then logout and then log back in and it will take you into the member side. If you have any questions let me know.

Important information - the username must be the email currently on file.

Please remember that all carts should be on the cart paths around tees and greens and all par 3 holes are ALWAYS cart path only. Please keep carts 30 yards from the green when cart rules allow 90 degree rules.

Please do not drive on the opposite side of the green from where the path is located. This traffic will continue to wear areas in the rough around the greens. This is especially important in cold weather months when the grass isn’t growing.

Please scan the available QR code at the Stonehaven Starter House or Woodhaven Pro Shop. Please answer the questions in the first text so we can update your information and edit our text database. This system will be utilized for cart rules, exciting new information, and other direct to member texts.

Please call or email us with any questions or concerns at golfshop@gladespringspoa.com or matt.felber@gladespringspoa.com

Changes to the ACC Rules and Regulations

The following changes to the ACC Rules and Regulations will become effective on September 11, 2025.

  1. All Village golf carts must be registered with the POA office. All Village golf carts must be insured and show the POA as an 'Additionally Insured' party. Proof of insurance is required to register your golf cart.
  2. Only licensed drivers may operate a golf cart within Glade Springs Village.
  3. Parking within 100' of an intersection during loading or unloading of school students is prohibited. This causes difficulty for our residents to navigate through these intersections.
  4. Power boats using Chatham Lake must belong to property owners and be operated by our members. This is a private lake for the enjoyment of our members. Non-powered boats and watercraft may belong to guests of members provided they are accompanying the guests. Power boats must be registered at the POA office. Proof of insurance is required showing the POA as an 'Additionally Insured'. Only licensed drivers may operate a powered boat. This is a current regulation, just being made clearer.

Glade Community Cleanup Day

The GSVPOA and Glade Springs Resort are sponsoring a community wide clean-up day on Saturday, September 20 from 10 am to 12 pm.

Let’s gather together to keep our roadways cleaned up.  We will assign volunteers a section of roadway to pick up trash. Hot dogs and chips will be available to all volunteers at the Haven after the cleanup is complete.

We will have stations at the Town Square (near the volleyball court) and at the Woodhaven clubhouse to give out assignments to volunteers.

You can choose where you want check in. Litter grabbers, gloves, and trash bags will be available at each station for your use. A dumpster will be ready to receive the collected trash near the Woodhaven clubhouse, or you can leave litter-filled bags along a major roadway for pickup by Glade Springs Security.

Questions? Want to volunteer? Contact: info@gladespringspoa.com

There have been several special events at The Haven this summer with more planned for the fall.

Happy Hours on Monday at The Haven began in August with the idea of having them occasionally. But the response was so positive that we decided to have them every Monday through the end of October. Beer and wine will be available at reduced prices from 5pm – 7pm every Monday, except September 15, when the Haven is closed for a private event.

Most Mondays a buffet is also available for $10 per person and we have enjoyed live music from local musicians such as Jonah Carden and Matt Mullins. Plan to join the fun at Happy Hour at The Haven every Monday until end of October.

The “Summer Send Off Celebration” on Sunday, August 31 was a huge success. Lots of fun games for kids as well as adults and a great gathering of your fellow members. Music was provided by Matt Mullins and a special playlist designed by the planning committee. Thank you to the Planning committee for this great event: Marcia Dunlap, Karina Kwiatkowski, Mary & Rob Gutierrez, Deborah Ontko, Betty Wagaman, Rema McGuire, and Cal Clack. Let’s hope this becomes an annual tradition.

Our Oktoberfest is planned for Saturday, October 4 from 2pm to 6pm. We will be offering German sausages, sauerkraut, German potato salad and interesting beers on tap! Saturday

October 25 will be our Fall Festival featuring hayrides and other fun activities and great food for all ages.

A Christmas party for all Glade residents is scheduled for Saturday, December 20 from 2pm to 5pm. We hope to have live Christmas music available as well as some reindeer games and time to relax and enjoy our friends and neighbors before Christmas week.

The Haven will be open for football on 3 screens every Saturday afternoon for college ball and again on Sunday afternoon for NFL games. Come cheer on your favorite team and enjoy the food and drinks available at The Haven.

Dam Socials

The last Dam Social event will on Wednesday, October 1 at 5:00pm.

Join us at the parking lot by Chatham Lake and catch up with your neighbors. Feel free to bring a snack to share, but it is not required.

All residents are welcome. Contact Betty or John Callender for more information.
