Message from our General Manager

Dear Residents:
The accounting staff wanted me to provide a reminder about the new assessment rate that went into effect as of July 1, 2023. Owners have several options for making payments:
Payment Amount Due:
-
If you would like to pay the full annual assessment amount for the year at one time that amount is: $1,838.88
-
If you wish to pay in monthly installments, your payment is due on the first of the month, and the monthly payment amount is: $153.24
Payment Options:
-
ACH Auto Withdraw: Owners have the option to enroll in the POA’s ACH program and the funds will be automatically removed from their bank account. This will help you to avoid late fees and interest. This is a no-cost service the POA provides to the ownership. You can enroll by contacting the office at info@gladespringspoa.com
-
Online Payments: You can pay by credit card online at www.gladespringspoa.com, in the online store. Please note that if you choose this method, you will be responsible for including the 3% convenience fee with your payment.
- Mail in a payment: You can mail in a check payment to the POA office at GSVPOA, PO Box 90 Daniels WV 25832. To ensure your payment is applied correctly please include your property address, account owner name, and account number with your payment.
-
Pay at the management office: You can drop by the office and make a payment during our normal business hours, or you can drop your payment in the drop box outside the office door. Please note that we can now take credit cards and debit cards in the office. The convenience fee will be applied. To ensure your payment is applied correctly, please include your property address, account owner name, and account number with your payment.
What if?
- If you are already Participating in the POA ACH Payment program: your payment amount will automatically be updated.
- If you have set up an auto-payment plan with your private bank account: you will need to update your payment amount with your bank.
-
If you would like an updated copy of your account ledger please contact the POA office at info@gladespringspoa.com, we will need your name, property address and an email you like us to respond to. An automated ledger will be sent from the Topps system.
To avoid collection actions including, late fees, interest, or other collection actions and charges, your payments are due on the first of the month, with a fifteen-day grace period provided, and late fees are applied on the 20th of each month. A copy of the 2023 POA budget summary is available online at www.gladespringspoa.com for owner review. The POA staff is always available to assist you if you have any questions.
On a final note, our apologies to Nancy Kissinger, whose name was spelled incorrectly in the June newsletter.
Respectfully yours,
Linda Horensavitz, PCAM
General Manager

Glade Springs Village Property Owners,
The summer is finally here, and our golf courses are in great shape for your enjoyment. Please remember that all players must check in with the pro shop prior to playing. We have been receiving complaints from several members that live on the Stonehaven Golf Course that large groups are playing together. In the pictures, it not only shows our rental carts but also private carts. We do not have rangers late in the evenings, but that is something we will be monitoring and addressing. All private carts using a trail pass must have their 2023 trail pass displayed on the cart they are using when playing Stonehaven or Woodhaven.
Our GSVPOA Member/Member is July 8–9, 2023, which is our normal second weekend of July. We have a good field of players broken into multiple flights. Our next GSVPOA golf event will be the GSVPOA Club Championship on August 12–13, 2023. This is also on our normal schedule for the second weekend of August. We are going to do something a bit different this year. Both rounds for ALL players will be played at Stonehaven! There are sign-up sheets located at both the Stonehaven Starter House and the Woodhaven Pro Shop. Please come by and sign up!
I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the members and guests that have been to the Woodhaven Pro Shop this spring. The golf staff and I have received several positive comments on how nice the pro shop looks and the quality of the merchandise selection for this season. Remember, the pro shop staff is available for special orders. If you don’t see exactly what you are looking for in your size, please ask. Glade Springs Village items make great gifts for other POA members!
Good news!!!! The online tee time system is now working, and members have the ability to book online again. Please follow these directions, and if you have any questions, please email matt.felber@gladespringspoa.com.
Click on login or sign up.
Fill out the right-hand side information under Sign Up."
Save the information, then log out and then log back in, and it will take you to the member side. If you have any questions, let me know.
Important information: the username must be the email currently on file.
Please remember that all carts should be on the cart paths around tees and greens on both courses. We are still receiving complaints and images of our POA members and guests being too close to the green. Please do not drive on the opposite side of the green from where the path is located. This traffic will continue to wear areas in the rough around the greens. When you approach the green complex, please proceed to the path.
The 2023 GSVPOA Golf Calendar is now up on the website at www.gladespringspoa.com and will be updated and subject to change throughout the season. We have several returning events and will continue to add new ones during the season. The GSVPOA Member/Member Meeting will be held on Saturday, July 8th, and Sunday, July 9th. We will do our best to not inconvenience our POA members when booking outside events.
Now that we have both golf courses open, we will return to our in-season closed days. Stonehaven will be closed on Mondays, and Woodhaven will be closed on Tuesdays. For private cart owners with a 2023 trail pass, you can go out on Stonehaven on Monday after 4 p.m. and on Woodhaven on Tuesday after 4 p.m. As we get into our summer weather, we have a few items we would like to remind everyone to start the new season. For those players who would like the opportunity to tee off on holes near their homes (instead of the #1 tee), please be sure to call the pro shop for availability and to let us know you will be on the golf course. We need this information for various reasons, including scheduled golf maintenance, safety, and the collection of round data, to mention just a few. It is important not to jump in front of other POA members or guests when not checking in and starting at #1.
The morning text database has been well received, and we continue to add highlights to cart rules, hours of operation, and other important information in a quick morning text. If anyone is not receiving those messages, please stop by the Stonehaven Starter House and scan the QR code to add your number to the list. For anyone that has "opted out," we as staff are not able to add you back into the database from the software; you will have to scan the barcode again to start getting the morning messages.
We have our 2023 trail pass available for purchase. This year, the Board has approved and moved forward with the combined trail fee pass for $600.00 plus tax. This will also include one GHIN number, and additional numbers may be purchased for $34.00 plus tax. There will no longer be a separate Stonehaven and Woodhaven trail pass. The Golf Committee will be working on adding fun events throughout the summer on the Woodhaven golf course. For example, when a trail pass holder plays at Woodhaven, they have access to the fleet carts if needed. Previously, when we held mixed course events such as Member/Member or the GSVPOA Club Championship, the former Stonehaven trail pass-only holder would have to pay for their cart fee(s) on the Woodhaven course. This will be included for the 2023 season.
We have a couple of new options for the upcoming golf season. We will be offering discount passes for prepaid member cart fees and prepaid guest member green fees that include cart fees. We will have a punch card that will be sold that includes 10 fees prepaid and two free. This pass will only be valid for the 2023 season and will expire on 12/31/2023. The unused season will not roll over to the 2024 season. All passes can be purchased at the Woodhaven golf shop or the Stonehaven Starter House. During inclement weather, please call ahead for availability.
For those POA members that are interested in taking advantage of booking online, please email matt.felber@gladespringspoa.com or tyler.farley@gladespringspoa.com, and we will reset your online access and update your username and password. This will be a great opportunity, as we have recently installed our new software. The new system has many additional functions that will be integrated as we bring it online.
The bathrooms on each golf course will be opened as warmer weather permits.
Directions to the parking area:
Coming from the main gate, continue through the clock tower and make a left on Edward Drive. Follow Edward Drive and make a left on George Lane. As you approach the end of George Lane, turn left and the parking area is straight ahead. Please note that no parking is allowed on George Lane. Please call the pro shop at 304-763-3332 and we will pick you up and bring you and/or your guests to the Stonehaven Starter House to check in for golf and collect appropriate fees.
We will be distributing the carts for the Stonehaven Golf Course and collecting fees through the Stonehaven Starter House. Do not use the GSR Hotel parking lot across from the Stonehaven 1st tee or the main Cobb parking areas. The GSVPOA golf staff will do their best to accommodate our POA members and all guests during this transition.
Please scan the available QR code at the Stonehaven Starter House or Woodhaven Golf Shop. Please answer the questions on the first text so we can update your information and edit our text database. This system will be utilized for cart rules, exciting new information, and other direct-to-member texts.

Golf Course Superintendent Update

Dear GSVPOA Members,
As the golf season progresses, we encounter an increasing number of golfers and rounds played. This spike in player traffic will also increase wear and stress on the golf courses. This can come in several different forms, but the most important would be ball marks on the greens.
By definition, an unrepaired ball mark is a bump, ridge, hole, or crater in the putting green with a sunken center. It’s caused when golf balls hit the green, either from a lofted approach shot or a fast, bouncing approach.
Fixing ball marks is also one of the most important rules in golf. The USGA Rules of Golf state: "A player should ensure that any damage to the putting green made by a ball is carefully repaired." When ball marks are not repaired, they become a significant impediment to every golfer's putt.
Repairing ball marks is one of the easiest ways that golfers can help the golf maintenance team deliver high-quality playing conditions. On the other end, if ball marks go unrepaired, they will certainly become problematic. At the time, it may seem like a minor oversight, but if ball marks go unrepaired, they will take weeks to heal. During this time, the old ball marks will cause balls to bounce offline and will be visually unpleasant. The damage caused to the putting surface is also an entry point for weeds that can cause serious problems.
Fixing ball marks is easy, but at times the proper technique can be misunderstood. The proper technique to fix a ball mark is easy and fast. First, insert the ball mark repair tool behind the ball mark and gently push the top of the tool toward the center. Continue working around the ball mark, pushing the surrounding turf in toward the center of the indentation. Avoid using a lifting or twisting motion because this can damage turf roots. Once you have finished pushing turf in toward the center, gently tamp the area down with your putter to create a smooth, firm surface.
Repairing ball marks is a critical practice for all golfers. It helps maintain a smooth putting surface and preserves the health of our greens. It only requires a small amount of your time and attention to assist and ensure we have high-quality playing surfaces. So, after you hit a great shot onto the putting green, fix your ball mark, and have a couple nearby, it is an excellent way to celebrate.
Thank you,
Patrick Murphy,
Golf Course Supernatant
