Message from our General Manager
Dear Residents:

When you enter and leave the back gate, please try to ensure that no one piggybacks behind you. We want to ensure that only those who are supposed to be in our neighborhood are entering. The little things, like keeping an eye out, can make a difference. If you see something suspicious, please call the security and / or the police.

From time to time, the POA staff gets questions about how the POA is run. The reader’s digest version of the answer to this question is that the owners elect the Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors make decisions on policies, rules and regulations on behalf of the POA membership. The Board of Directors then directs the staff to move forward on actions related to those decisions.

The Board will often utilize advisory committees to provide input on topics and make recommendations to the Board prior to the Board making decisions; an example of such a decision might be a policy change. A committee might research the possible change and make a recommendations on the policy to the Board. After the policy draft has been reviewed by the POA's general counsel, the board of directors will then review the policy change and vote to approve or disapprove it.

The POA staff doesn't vote at board meetings or committee meetings. However, when an owner provides a letter or request to the Board of Directors or an advisory committee, the staff is happy to help facilitate the request by adding it to the next meeting agenda. The staff may contact you for more information to pass on to the Board or committee to help ensure that your request can be addressed.

With Halloween just around the corner, the POA would like to remind everyone to be careful when driving, go slow, and watch for children and pedestrians. For Halloween safety tips, please see the link below from the Beckley Police Department. We want to keep all our community safe.

Have you changed your mailing address, email address, or phone number?  If so, please update the GSVPOA Office, so we can stay in touch with you. We want to keep you up to date with important information. All you need to do it email Sandy Looney with any changes to your updated information.

Treadmill update: After months of waiting for the parts to repair the treadmill in the fitness center, it was determined that the parts could not be obtained. In September, the Board of Directors authorized the purchase of a new treadmill. I have placed the order, and it will take about four to six weeks for it to arrive if there are no complications.

Respectfully yours,

General Manager
Bridge Day - October 21, 2023
Bridge Day is West Virginia's largest single-day festival! Every third Saturday in October, thousands of people gather on the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayetteville, West Virginia to watch daredevils BASE jump into the Gorge below.

What is Bridge Day?
Bridge Day is West Virginia's largest single-day festival and one of the largest extreme sports events in the world. Held annually every third Saturday in October on the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayette County, West Virginia, this is the only day each year thousands of spectators can walk across the bridge and watch as serious BASE jumpers get their chance to fly 876 feet into the Gorge below and rappelers ascend and descend from the catwalk. Come and enjoy the view from the bridge, one of the best overlooks in the New River Gorge!
This is Bridge Day, and it's unlike anything you've ever experienced.

Ever wondered what goes into West Virginia's most exhilarating festival? Check out these stats from 2022 and learn more about the history of Bridge Day below!

The number of BASE jumpers (2022): 350 jumpers from 39 states and 4 countries.
  • The number of jumps made (2022): 737 and 16 tandem jumps
  • The number of rappels (2022): 700
  • The number of spectators (2022): Nearly 140,000!
  • The New River Gorge Bridge is the world's fifth-longest single-arch bridge and was opened on October 22, 1977.
  • The first Bridge Day was held on November 8, 1980, when two people parachuted from a plane onto the bridge. 5,500 people walked across the bridge, too.

Matt Felber, Director of Golf
Glade Springs Village Property Owners,

As we enter the final month of the 2023 golf season, remember that the Woodhaven course will be closing on October 31, 2023. After November 1, the Stonehaven golf course will open on Monday, weather permitting. Our golf shop will be open normal hours until October 31. We will also be running great discounts on merchandise throughout October, so come out and pick up some end-of-season items at great prices. GSVPOA items make great gifts for fellow members! This time of year, we will restart our frost delay and course conditions texts that are important reminders for daily play and availability.

In October, the golf staff will begin to enforce the golf rules as approved by the GSVPOA Board of Directors and posted on the POA website in September. Golf Course Rules Enforcement Policy

Please be aware that our staff will do our best to explain and answer any questions that arise with enforcement. We look forward to closing out this season and getting ready for the 2024 golf season.

All private carts using a trail pass must have their 2023 trail pass displayed on the cart they are using when playing Stonehaven or Woodhaven.

The online tee time system is working, and members have the ability to book online again. Please follow these directions, and if you have any questions, please email Matt.Felber@gladespringspoa.com.

Go to the website (gladespringspoa.com) and click on the member tee times at the top.

Click on login/sign-up.

Fill out the right-hand side information under "sign-up."

Save the information, then log out and log back in, and it will take you to the member side. If you have any questions, let me know.

Important information: the username must be the email currently on file.
Please remember that all carts should be on the cart paths around tees and greens on both courses. We are still receiving complaints and images of our POA members and guests being too close to the green. Please do not drive on the opposite side of the green from where the path is located. This traffic will continue to wear areas in the rough around the greens. When you approach the green complex, please proceed to the path.

For those POA members that are interested in taking advantage of booking online, please email Matt.Felber@gladespringspoa.com or Tyler.Farley@gladespringspoa.com, and we will reset your online access and update your username and password. This will be a great opportunity, as we have recently installed our new software. The new system has many additional functions that will be integrated as we bring it online.

Please scan the available QR code at the Stonehaven Starter House or Woodhaven Pro Shop. Please answer the questions in the first text so we can update your information and edit our text database. This system will be utilized for cart rules, exciting new information, and other direct member texts.
Please call or email us with any questions or concerns at: golfshop@gladespringspoa.com or matt.felber@gladespringspoa.com.

Golf Cart Safety
golf-cart-green.jpg
Just a reminder that golf carts using our streets must
also obey the same laws that apply to vehicles within
Glade Springs Village. They are strictly limited to
25mph. Stop signs must be followed and when turning
drivers in carts without turn signals must use hand
signals. Private carts must have a valid Trail Pass to use
the cart paths on the POA golf courses. Carts not being
used for golfing are restricted to non-golfing hours.

There must be a licensed driver present in every golf cart!
In fall, West Virginia’s forests and trees alight into a fiery red, yellow and orange palette. What better time to get out and enjoy the scenery than October? Check out these festivals that embrace fall’s beauty in the Mountain State:

Revel in Everything Fall & Pumpkin
Oct. 5-8 in Milton
The Pumpkin Festival in Milton is a whole lot more than just pumpkins, although the festival started in 1986 to help farmers raise and sell them. The event packs in more than 100 artisans who display their crafts and do demonstrations. Craftsmen share their knowledge of blacksmithing, pottery making, quilting, woodworking and much more. Enjoy live music and an array of pumpkin-flavored treats.

Celebrate Rail History
Oct. 21-22, 28-29 in Hinton
The Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad helped shape Hinton into the charming place it is today. Every year, the little town commemorates its history with Hinton Railroad Days. For 2 weekends in October, the streets are filled with vendors selling unique crafts and delicious food. The New River Train rolls guests in fresh from a ride through the stunning fall scenery.

For those looking for a spookier time, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the asylum, including paranormal tours, flashlight tours and a haunted house, “Hysteria,” where a demented doctor has brought his patients’ nightmares to life.
