Palm Beach County (PBC) recognizes April as Second Chance Month to raise awareness about reentry services offered to people returning from incarceration by creating opportunities for successful transition to the community. The county’s Public Safety Department and the Reentry Task Force in collaboration with reentry providers (The Lord’s Place, The Reentry Center - Riviera Beach, Integrated Healthcare Systems in Riviera Beach and Choice to Change Inc.) and other criminal justice partners have contributed to making Palm Beach County a national leader in reentry services and reducing recidivism.

Dress for Success Monthly News
From Dress for Success: Spring has sprung. And so did a West Palm Beach water main on, of all days, Friday, March 15th, the date of “Style for Hope.” The gushing geyser caused a serious flood in the Kravis Center garage where guests were parked. But, it was a minor disruption to our major fundraising luncheon that netted us nearly $255,000 – 13% more than last year!

Farm and Food Worker Relief Program
PBC Community Action in partnership with Coalition of Florida Farmworker Organization, Inc. is assisting in providing this one time $600 payment from the USDA to eligible farmworkers. The relief is intended to defray costs for reasonable and necessary personal, family or living expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. These payment will be available to eligible farm and food workers who performed work in farming activities and meatpacking during the period 1/27/2020 – 05/9/2023. Workers will need to provide sufficient proof of employment during the period and also identity when applying.

Neighborhood Engagement and Transformation (NEAT) Grant
The Office of Community Revitalization (OCR) is accepting applications for its NEAT grants program. NEAT provides grants of up to $10,000 to neighborhood-based groups and/or organizations for resident-driven neighborhood improvement projects proposed within designated Countywide Community Revitalization Team (CCRT) areas and theGlades region, including the municipalities of Belle Glade, South Bay and Pahokee.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.
If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
