The Glades PATCH (Planned Approach To Community Health) is a program designed to help the community evaluate, plan and implement health education and disease prevention and intervention programs. PATCH helps promote the health of the community to include social, emotional and physical well-being of its citizens. PATCH is a partnership of concerned citizens and organizations. This partnership provides a forum for identifying health problems affecting the community and mobilizing the community to plan, conduct and evaluate intervention services. The meeting is open to all who wish to join.

Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards

Sponsored by the Ascena Foundation, the Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards program provides financial awards to everyday heroes who are making the world a better place for women and children, with a focus in the areas of health, education, social reform, and esteem. Each year, the program chooses a single grand-prize winner to receive $100,000 and two runners up to receive $25,000 based on work they do that empowers women and children in the fields listed above. Now in its third year, the program has issued a call for anyone to nominate themselves or their peers (any eligible organization) for their chance to win the 2017 Jaffe Award.

Kaire & Heffernan Community Scholarships for Florida Students

The Kaire & Heffernan, LLC Community Scholarship for Florida High School students is available to promising young students in the state of Florida whose involvement in their communities reflects the values that we cherish at Kaire & Heffernan, LLC. (https://www.kairelaw.com/) Through this opportunity, we hope to recognize a student who is actively engaged in trying to make the world a better, safer, and more charitable place. In particular, the scholarship will be awarded to a student with a history of volunteering for non-profit organizations in their community. As an added bonus to the scholarship winner's dedication, Kaire & Heffernan will be donating $500 to the Non-profit where they spent time volunteering.

The scholarship will award one student with the following:
  •     A check in the amount of $1,000.00, made payable to the recipient's chosen educational institution, to be used solely for the purposes of tuition and related expenses
  •     A check in the amount of $500.00, made payable as a donation to the local non-profit organization where the winning student volunteered his or her time
We will choose one eligible high school senior during each year in which the scholarships are offered (currently the 2016 - 2017 school year).

Swim Lesson Vouchers Available on April 1st

The Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County's application for free/reduced cost swimming lessons will be available starting this Saturday, April 1st, on the Coalition's website www.pbcgov.org/dpc. The $50 vouchers either entirely or nearly cover the cost of six to eight swim lessons at 18 Palm Beach County pools. The vouchers are for Palm Beach County families with children between the ages of 3 and 12 who need to learn how to swim. Families must meet certain eligibility requirements. Be sure to follow the online directions to fill out the application and email it. The DPC will notify you if your application has been received.

If you have a group, such as a summer camp or afterschool center, that needs swim lessons or if you have any questions, please email Anna Stewart at astewart@pbcgov.org or call at (561)616-7068. The vouchers are on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be available until funds run out.
Trustbridge Provides Free Grief Support in Belle Glade Grief

Since 1978, Trustbridge Hospice (you may know us as Hospice of Palm Beach County) has been caring for our community. Our compassionate professionals provide hospice care for families facing serious illness. We also offer grief support to any family that has suffered the loss of a loved one.

Please know, you are not alone in your grief. We are here to support you.
Our Belle Glade Grief Support Group is free of charge and open to the public.
