Food Distributions in the Glades

The Glades Initiative Offers Food Distribution
The Glades Initiative offers food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come first-serve basis.
Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

PBC School Feeding Sites Open
School Food Service will distribute meals on Monday, April 20, Wednesday, April 22 and Friday, April 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two days' worth of 'Grab and Go' meals will be provided each day. Meals are FREE to anyone 18 years of age and younger (22 years and younger for ESE students), regardless of financial need.

Food Distribution Available to Local Seniors
Palm Beach County Division of Senior Services invites you to join in the Congregate Meal Program for seniors in Belle Glade. Lunch is served Monday - Friday at noon. Complimentary Palm Tran Connection is available to and from the sites.

Need assistance with completing the Census 2020 questionnaire? The Glades Initiative will be here and available to assist you with your Census 2020 application over the phone.
It's quick and easy. The 2020 Census questionnaire will take about 10 minutes to complete.
It's safe, secure, and confidential. Your information and privacy are protected. Why do Census? Your participation is important because it helps to direct billions of dollars in federal funds to local communities for schools, roads, and other public services.
The latest response rate are as follows since 4/11/20: Belle Glade- 30.2%; Pahokee- 30.8%; South Bay-35.8%. With your involvement we can improve our numbers!

Coronavirus Testing Site in the Glades
Testing appointments are now available for people of any age with or without COVID-19 symptoms and want to test, People who believe they are showing symptoms of COVID-19 and want to be re-tested can walk-in and see a provider for screening. If the provider determines they are a candidate for screening, they'll be registered on-site and re-tested.

Go Glades Routes Will no Longer be Served
Go Glades Routes 1, 2, 3 and 4 will no longer be served. For your convenience, Go Glades will begin operating exclusively as a dial-a-ride service beginning Monday, April 13, 2020. .

Stimulus Dollars Provide Meals for More Seniors
Press Release: The Area Agency on Aging of Palm Beach/Treasure Coast's Helpline specialists are available to assist seniors with applications for Food Stamps (SNAP). The Department of Children and Families has expanded benefits under Food Stamps and the Helpline can assist with enrollment.
CONTACT: Seniors and adults with a disability should call the Helpline at 1-866-684-5885 for access to services such as food, electric bill assistance, help with Medicare and caregiver resources.

CDC Guidance Regarding Homemade Masks
CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission. CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.
