Medical Interpreter Training - LAST CHANCE! MIT

This is a 40-hour basic training for bilingual individuals interested in medical or community interpreting. Participants must attend all 5 days to complete the course. Topics covered: Consecutive Interpretation; Specialized Terminology, such as Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology; Common Medical Problems; Code of Ethics; Multicultural Awareness; Interpreter Skill Development.

Active Shooter Response Training 

This course is designed to train people in civilian active shooter response. This course will cover situational awareness, mental preparedness, history of active shooter events, psychological and physiological effects of a violent encounter, training mistakes, proper training defined, active shooter statistics/history, the origin of traditional lock-down and its intended purpose, U.S. Dept. of Education and Homeland Security federal guidelines, fundamentals of blood control, and a comprehensive breakdown on the current federal guidelines for civilians. The training will also involve interactive demonstrations and scenario based training drills.

Take Stock in Children Needs Mentors  MENTORS

TSIC (Take Stock in Children) needs mentors to mentor students at Glades Central High School, Lake Shore Middle and Pahokee High School.  These students were accepted to receive a two-year college scholarship upon high school graduation. Without a mentor the students cannot receive their scholarship.
