The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during the hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

Health Officials Issue Blue-Green Algae Bloom Alert for Lake Okeechobee
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in Lake Okeechobee - Pahokee. This is in response to a water sample taken on April 24, 2024. The public should exercise caution in and around this area. This is a recreational surface water alert, drinking water is not affected.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

PBC Community Services Dept 2024 Homeless Point-In-Time Count Results
Surveyors identified 2,126 individuals and families as homeless. While there was a slight decrease in veteran and family homelessness, the overall count has increased by 14.6%. The number of homeless individuals counted in 2023 was 1,855.

Glades/Lake Region The Truth About The Youth Teen Summit will be held August 2-4 for youth in grades 6th-12th! Registered youth will participate in informative workshops on Mental Health, College Preparation, Gang Prevention, Racial Equity, Crime Prevention, Careers in Trades, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship.
