The Glades Initiative Offers a New Program to Improve Women's Health!
The Glades Initiative's Women's Health Care Program provides many services to clients:
- Guide patients through the health care system
- Assist in the process of obtaining medical insurance as needed
- Facilitate referrals for mammogram screenings and pap smears
- Work with patients with abnormal mammograms, biopsies, or pap smear
- And much more

The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during the hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

Community ID Event at Belle Glade Civic Center
The Community ID of the Palm Beaches is for ANY resident who may have limited access to government-issued forms of identification, and for those who support a diverse and inclusive community. It is not a government-issued form of ID or a driver’s license, but it is a verifiable form of identification that says you are a part of our community. It can be used as a tool by law enforcement, city agencies, health centers, schools, and businesses to better identify, serve, and protect you.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Literacy Coalition of PBC Volunteer Opportunity
Help our students attain grade level in reading! Tutor 1st, 2nd or 3rd-grade students in reading comprehension during school hours. Each volunteer will tutor 2 or 3 students, one-on-one for 30 minutes each, during the entire school year. Times to be determined by schools. Type of Work/Skills Needed: At least 18 years of age, training required and provided by the Literacy Coalition
WHEN: Two days a week. Tutoring times are determined by each school, usually in the morning

Grant Opportunity: Improving the Lives of Young Children
The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood supports promising research and development projects to improve the welfare of young children, from infancy through seven years, in the United States. The Foundation's goal is to provide seed money to implement imaginative proposals that exhibit the greatest chance of improving the lives of young children on a national scale.
Support is provided in the following three areas: Early Childhood Welfare; Early Childhood Education and Play; and Parenting Education.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.
If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
