Jessie Levi Memorial Scholarship for Glades Health Students

The scholarship is awarded by Heka Healthcare Consulting, LLC to undergraduate, minority college students from the Glades area. One recipient will be selected to receive a $250 stipend to help offset the cost of books and tuition.

Philanthropy "Shark Tank" Application Opens

Developed by Advisors for Philanthropic Impact (API), Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank challenges and empowers young philanthropists in Palm Beach County to develop and execute high impact and sustainable projects that address social issues confronting our community. Palm Beach County 7th to 12th grade students have the opportunity to secure mentoring and funding (up to $15,000) over a 12-month period. In 2016, local studnet Je'Cynthia Nonar, of Glades Central High, was a winner for teen summit project.

Emergency Assistance Home Energy for the Elderly

The Palm Beach County Division of Senior Services provides Emergency Home Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP), which assists low-income households who include at least individual age 60 and older and are experiencing a home energy crisis. 

Households are eligible for one summer (cooling) crisis benefit during the period from April 1 to September 30, and one winter (heating) benefit from October 1 to March 31 each year, not to exceed $600.

1HTC supports the existing, and newly formed coalitions within the SE region (Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, Dade, Monroe), and provides technical assistance, as well as funds for community education. The 1HTC will work with POC's within the respective organizations to produce training materials, and enhance their respective publications that create awareness through a variety of media sources, by providing funding for projects.

Attend a meeting and become a leader. The council's mission is to be the voice for the youth of Palm Beach County, creating leaders through self-motivation, determination, and education. The Youth Council provides input on identified issues, informs the work of the county's Youth Master Plan, and raises awareness about issues youth are experiencing.

Legislative Delegation Public Hearing and Workshop Schedule

At the first Palm Beach County Delegation meeting each year, the delegation chooses a Chair and Vice-Chair and conducts a public hearing allowing presenters and the public to address legislators.If you would like to present at the meeting, the deadline to submit a presenter request form and any printed materials to the delegation office is Noon on Friday, September 8, 2017.

Homelessness: Youth 100-Day Challenge

Palm Beach County Youth 100 day Challenge  initiative. The focus of this initiative is to house 141 Homeless Youth in 100 days in Palm Beach County. If you know a homeless youth and/or family, you can start helping in this initiative by spreading the word and sharing this information.

8th Annual Girls Leadership Institute & STEAM Academy Comes to Belle Glade

The Women's Foundation of Florida (WFF) is excited to host our 8th Annual Girls Leadership Institute & STEAM Academy (GLI/STEM) twice in 2017 with the support of a grant from the Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County. The free and interactive programs provide training and support for underserved girls in PBC. The program is aimed at developing middle and high school girls' leadership skills and passion in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We will provide this program for 100 girls and their parents in the Glades community with your help. The WFPBC is looking for companies in STEAM fields and other community partners to participate in the September 16th program.

The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County Angel Tree Program

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program is not a government funded program. The Salvation Army Angel Tree is a needs based program meant to serve the neediest families with small children during the Christmas season. Families who struggle month to month, have recently lost work or who are undergoing an emergency need of some kind can get help through our program. Parents may register their children ages newborn to 12 years old during the registration day and locations listed above. The toys that are provided to the families that register are not purchased by The Salvation Army; they are provided by generous people in the community who actually go shopping for the children ("angels") that have registered for The Angel Tree.

Palm Beach Refugee Task Force Meeting

The Palm Beach County Refugee Task Force has been active in the Palm Beach County area for many years, with participants representing governmental and private agencies providing services to refugees in the area. Services provided by the agencies include employment, English language and vocational training, youth and family services, child care, employment-related immigration services, and refugee health services. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss refugee program service needs and possible solutions.
