Toastmasters Club Toast

The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback-and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.

Science of Parenthood

"Science of Parenthood" began as an online platform for a duo of new mothers to share their quirky and witty cartoons focusing on the inevitable, absurd moments of child-rearing. The comics feature one-of-a-kind illustrations paired with situational humor, relatable to any mom or dad.  Hundreds of cartoons later, Parenting.com has recognized "Science of Parenthood" as a blog, "every parent should read," and its creators have published a physical collection of their work. The book, "Science of Parenthood: Thoroughly Unscientific Explanations for Utterly Baffling Parenting Situations," went to No. 1 on Amazon's Hot New Parenting Releases and Dr. Oz calls it, "The perfect field manual for all the parents out there who can do nothing else with their day but laugh."

Sean Gaskell: Music of the West African Kora

Sean Gaskell will give a performance and educational demonstrations on the Kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. The Kora is native to the Mande peoples who live within the countries of Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Guinea, and Guinea Bissau. The music is traditionally played by oral and musical historians known as Griots (Gree-ohs). While the Kora is only 300 years old, some commonly played songs can be traced back 800 years to the Mande empires' founding. Many songs tell ancient stories of war and hardship, while others praise people of high political status and those who helped expand the Mande Empire.
