The following cold weather shelter will be open beginning at 7 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2026, and will close at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Palm Tran Connection will begin bus pickups to the established routes at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

FREE VITA Tax Assistance at Belle Glade Library


United Way of Palm Beach County’s VITA Program partners with the Palm Beach County Library System to offer free and confidential tax preparation and e-filing for eligible taxpayers. If your income was $78,000 or less in 2025, you may qualify for this service and could be eligible for up to $8,046 in Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). To participate, bring your 2024 tax return, IDs, Social Security cards for all members listed in the return, W-2 wage and tax statements for 2025, Form 1098, Form 1099 if applicable, and bank account and routing numbers. If you are filing jointly, both filers must be present.

Application Assistance for Summer Camp Scholarship at Belle Glade Library


This vital initiative provides eligible children, ages 5 to 17, with full scholarships to attend participating day camps for the duration of the summer season. The Summer Camp Scholarship Program is designed to foster both safety and growth, allowing parents to remain in the workforce with the assurance that their children are engaged in productive environments. These scholarships provide comprehensive coverage for all tuition and fees for children residing in families with an income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. The department will host 10 community outreach events to provide on-site support for families needing help with their applications. Apply by April 3, 2026.

This special after-hours event is free and open to the public and will spotlight the rich history, talent, and stories of residents from the Glades region. Community members of all ages are invited to take the mic and share their gifts. Countywide Burn Ban Now in Effect


Palm Beach County has issued a countywide burn ban due to dry conditions and increased wildfire risk. This means NO yard waste burning, bonfires, fire pits, or land-clearing burns until further notice (agricultural burns are the only exception, per Florida Forest Service guidelines).

Free Scam Protection for PBC Homeowners


If you own a home in Palm Beach County and/or work with clients who do, the Palm Beach County Clerk’s Office offers a free property fraud alert service that will send you an email notification when a document is recorded in the official property records of Palm Beach County that exactly matches the name, address or parcel number you register. This is a useful tool that will alert you if someone creates a fraudulent document that will deed your home to them and then records that document in the official records.

Applications Being Accepted for OCR’s FY-2027 NEAT Grants Program 


The Neighborhood Engagement and Transformation (NEAT) grants program provides grants of up to $10,000 to neighborhood-based groups and/or organizations for resident-driven neighborhood improvement projects proposed within designated Countywide Community Revitalization Team (CCRT) areas and the Glades region, including the municipalities of Belle Glade, South Bay and Pahokee. Potential applicants must attend a mandatory pre-application conference on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Confirmation of attendance must be received no later than March 9, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. 


Letter of Intent is due on Thursday, April 9, 2026

This hands-on training, led by the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue team, equips participants with life-saving skills to respond to severe bleeding emergencies. Protect Your Home and Legacy: Free Legal Help for Eligible Homeowners in Palm Beach County


The goal of the Heirs’ Property Family Wealth Protection Fund project is to preserve generational wealth and promote community stability by providing legal services to eligible homeowners, such as the creation of estate plans, wills, deeds, and the clearing of tangled property titles. All services will be 100% free of cost to eligible property owners.


WHEN: Services will be available through September 30, 2026, or until funds are expended, whichever occurs first.

Become a Fair House Tester and Receive a Stipend!


Why Should You Be A Tester? Testers help fight housing discrimination. You will be helping people live where they choose. Your work will help ensure that landlords and property owners follow the law. Testers complete detailed reports on their experience for the Fair Housing Project at the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County. Compensation: $25 Training Stipend and $55-$75 Stipend for Each Test Completed. FREE Services for Parents with 2 and 3-Year-Old Children


ParentChild+ supports families with toddlers ages 2–3 by engaging parents in their child’s early learning. They offer free educational books and toys, and our specialists conduct home visits twice a week, providing 30‑minute sessions focused on preparing children for preschool success.
