Mental Health First Aid - FREE Training
Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches how to help people experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. By recognizing signs of mental health distress and knowing how to communicate with individuals experiencing these scary moments, we can be part of an immensely impactful early intervention effort, increasing the chances of people to get the help they need as soon as possible.

VITA Sites Open in the Glades - File for Free!
United Way of Palm Beach County has partnered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to bring free tax preparation service to those in our community with an annual household income of $66,000 or less in 2018 and focus on those who may be eligible to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) of up to $6,431. VITA sites will open on Monday, January 28, 2019.

PBC is First in Florida to Approve Cancer Presumption Language for Firefighters
On February 5, Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay, along with her fellow County Commissioners, approved a new collective bargaining agreement with the Professional Firefighters/Paramedics of Palm Beach County, Local 2928, IAFF, Inc. Included in this agreement is cancer presumption language that entitles firefighters to on-the-job disability and supplemental long term disability benefits if they are diagnosed with cancer during the performance of their regular duties.
