Open to All: Food Distribution Every Wednesday at The Glades Initiative
The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

PBC Youth Services Accepting Summer Camp Scholarship Applications
The Palm Beach County Youth Services Department is accepting parent applications for summer camp scholarships beginning January 22 through April 2. The Summer Camp Scholarship Program offers eligible children, ages 5-14 and a special population up to age 17, a full scholarship to day camp for the entire summer. It allows parents to work with the knowledge that their children are safe and gives children educational and recreational opportunities for growth.

From Lake Okeechobee Rural Health Network: LORHN’s Community Health Advocate is available in the Glades region to screen individuals for health and social needs and work with residents one-on-one to help apply for programs, services, and benefits needed. LORHN staff can help enroll in health insurance, apply for discounted medication, establish a medical home, get help with transportation or housing, apply for financial assistance for home, food, or medical bills, link individuals or families with health care providers, and more.

Was your 2020 household income $66,000 or less? You can receive free tax preparation assistance at one of several VITA locations throughout the county! The VITA Program, made possible by the United Way of Palm Beach County, gives you three choices to electronically file your tax return for a fast refund. All options are by appointment only and supported by IRS-certified volunteers.

Outside the Box Exhibition at the Dolly Hand
The “Outside the Box” exhibition at Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center features original artworks inspired by contemporary and historical attributes of The Glades’ natural and human-made environments, communities, recreational activities, education, arts, culture and industry. Featured artworks are made of diverse materials; from oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings to mixed media works with beads and found objects.
