The Glades Initiative Pantry of Choice Hours
We hope that the flexibility of our new “Pantry of Choice” hours helps us to serve you better. You may come to shop in the pantry once per week at any time during open hours. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines)! Food will no longer be distributed outside.
Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

Early Voting is Open in the Jan 11 Special Elections
Registered voters in Palm Beach County eligible to vote in the Special General Election for U.S. House of Representatives, District 20, or Special Democratic Primary Election for Florida House of Representatives, District 88 can vote safely and conveniently at any of the seven designated Early Voting locations available across the county. Voters can also drop their mail ballot off at any of our secure Vote-by-Mail ballot drop boxes. Drop boxes are located at each Early Voting location during Early Voting hours or outside each of our four offices.

The Blind Boys of Alabama are recognized worldwide as living legends of gospel music. Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame & winners of five Grammy Awards, they are known for crossing multiple musical boundaries from traditional gospel favorites to contemporary spiritual material.

This is the last scheduled PBC CHA focus group! This session will be for Haitian Creole speakers and is scheduled to take place on on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 12-1:30 PM. These focus group sessions are essential to understanding the community’s experiences, beliefs, and needs when it comes to health and health care.

Rosenwald Elementary Hosts 37th Annual MLK Jr Oratorical Contest
On Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 6:00pm, The 37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical “Speech” contest will be at Rosenwald Elementary School. Eligible participants are students residing in and/or attending Glades area schools. The students will present their speeches “live and in-person”. A Google Meet link will be available to students, faculty and parents to view the speeches remotely.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Belle Glade Sites Offer Testing; New COVID Testing Site in Boynton Beach
A drive-through COVID-19 testing site will be opened at Caloosa Park, 1300 S.W. 35th Avenue, Boynton Beach, 33426. Enter the site from Congress Avenue, south of Woolbright Road. Testing will start Monday, January 3 and the hours of operation will be 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., 7 days a week until further notice.

Updated Policy on the Use of Facial Coverings for County Staff and General Public
From Palm Beach County: "After consulting with the Director of the Florida Department of Health of Palm Beach County, whose data indicates our daily cases, the daily positivity rate and the number of cases per one hundred thousand are on the rise - and in conjunction with the CDC recommendation – effective 12:01 a.m. on January 3, 2022, facial coverings/masks will be required of employees and the public while in all county owned and leased buildings until further notice."

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.
If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
