Literacy Plus in Motion for Adults LITERACYPLUS

Shoes of Hope Provides Shoes for Children in Need

Shoes of Hope is an annual shoe and school supply distribution for children in need who are entering grades K-5!  Shoes of Hope 2018 will take place at Community of Hope in Loxahatchee, Florida. During this time, volunteers will be providing a message of hope and supplying each child with a new pair of shoes, school supplies, and a haircut.

Summer BreakSpot provides nutritious meals at no cost to children while school is out for the summer. There is no application necessary and any child age 18 or younger can come during meal times to receive a free meal. Many meal sites are located at places like schools, libraries and churches and offer breakfasts, lunches, snacks or supper. Note: not all sites are open daily or provide every meal service. We help ALL communities in crisis situations. We help with items such as but not limited to children's clothing from NB-TEENS, diapers, toiletries, wipes, formula, baby furniture, and more. We run strictly on donations so we take anything and everything and we do pick-ups. To help fund the resource center we have a Children's Boutique with new or gently used clothing and other items for sale at a very reasonable price. Soon we will be able to offer classes to help youth and adults with GED, communications, finding your personality, self-defense, and more.

Boxed for Success School Supply Drive Will Benefit Local School

From the Town of Palm Beach United Way: "We need your help collecting supplies for our back-to-school 'Boxed for Success School Supply Drive' organized by the Town of Palm Beach United Way's Youth United Committee.

The drive benefits local Title 1 elementary schools in Palm Beach County. This year, students at Belle Glade Elementary, C.O. Taylor/Kirklane and Highland Elementary Schools will receive thousands of pencils, crayons, glue sticks, paper and other supplies collected during the drive.

Now through August 6, supply donations and checks made payable to Town of Palm Beach United Way and decorated shoe boxes will be accepted at the United Way Office: 44 Cocoanut Row, Suite M201; the Palm Beach Daily News: 400 Royal Palm Way, Suite 100; and the Palm Beach Fire-Rescue Stations at 300 N. Heart, Health & Healing (Triple "H") Community Center is collaborating with Florida Health- Palm Beach County to host a "It's All About Me" Health Fair: Fashion Show event at the Riviera Beach Marina Event Center.

The event theme will be "Dress for Success-Stepping Up to A Healthy Lifestyle." Our goals are to promote Health and Wellness awareness, in a fun and entertaining way, and to empower women and men to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support/resources.  In addition, we hope to have over 250 community residents participating; creating a perfect atmosphere to promote good personal and mental health habits, to present the necessary tools that will help them thrive in life and work environment, and to introduce a professional and personal attire outlook.
