FREE FOOD for Anyone in Need at The Glades Initiative


The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during the hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).


Required to participate:

• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID

• ONE time per week


WHEN: Tuesdays and Wednesdays

  • 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday)
  • 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Wednesday)

Impact the Palm Beaches Grant Information Sessions


The Impact the Palm Beaches 2023-2024 Grant Cycle opens on August 7, 2023. Each year, Impact The Palm Beaches awards multiple $100,000 grants to area nonprofits to ignite change in our community. An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Calling Area Nonprofits: Community Service Fair in Clewiston


Clewiston High School is hosting a Community Service Fair on Monday, August 14th, 2023, at the Clewiston High School Gymnasium from 8am-10am. If you need volunteers we invite you to register to participate. Booths are open to local Non-Profit Organizations. Set up will be available from 8am - 9am. The Fair will begin at 9am. Students who are interested in community service opportunities will be invited to attend. Clewiston High School has a student body of approximately 950 students. Oftentimes students do not know how to get connected to service organizations. We believe this fair will be the perfect platform to connect our students to community service opportunities.

Volunteer Opportunity: Read With Me at Gove Elementary


Read with Me! is our newest initiative which allows volunteers to read to children in kindergarten classes. The Literacy Coalition provides a book and book-related activity for each child participating to take home.  This is a lot of fun and usually takes from 60 – 90 minutes. We’re asking you, as community leaders, to help us recruit volunteers to read at Gove. This is a wonderful way to connect community members with a local school.

Rebel Recovery Provides Services to Glades Residents


From Rebel Recovery: "Rebel Recovery, of West Palm Beach, provides peer mentoring for anyone that wants or is thinking about seeking help as it relates to substance use. HIV and AIDS testing, and overdose prevention training (where we provide free Narcan) are some of the things we can arrange to do in person. We also have a program that helps mothers that are dealing with child welfare cases. If any of them happen to have a family member that was arrested they may qualify for our Next Steps program, which helps individuals going through the vicious cycle of being arrested get access to services in order to break that cycle."

This year’s Back to School PBC! event will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, which serves approximately 10,000 students. Volunteers play a crucial role in making this event possible, and are still needed for the Palm Beach County Convention Center location. The most critical areas in need are in Traffic Management and Site Management.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
