The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during the hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

• ONE time per week

Brain Health Informational Session
JEM Research Institute is proud to be hosting a brain health informational session on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the West County Senior Center. This special event is for everyone in the Glades community, including leaders and caregivers. If anyone is curious about their brain health, curious to know what Alzheimer's Disease really is, and what resources are available to them and their loved ones, JEM will be there to answer your questions. Lost Tree Foundation Grant Cycle Now Open
Lost Tree Foundation's 2024 grant cycle is now open for requests and the letter of Inquiry (LOI) is available online. They anticipate awarding $3.5 to $4 million for capital projects in this cycle for organizations working in the areas of health, hunger, homelessness and education from Delray to Hobe Sound and out west to the Glades and Indiantown. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Health Officials Issue Blue-Green Algae Bloom Alert for Two Lake Okeechobee Locations
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in the Lake Okeechobee S352 (Lakeside) and S354 (rim canal side) water bodies. This is in response to water samples taken on May 31st, 2023. The public should exercise caution in and around these areas. This is a recreational surface water alert, drinking water is not affected.

Over Capacity Shelter is Offering 50% off Adoption Fees
Palm Beach County Department of Public Safety’s Division of Animal Care and Control (PBCACC) needs the communities' help to adopt or foster as the number of pets in its care has risen to over 300. PBCACC’s team of staff and volunteers are working overtime to ensure the best quality care, but they do not have enough space. With only 144 kennels and 200 dogs, two dogs are being placed in a single kennel.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
