Pahokee Brownfields Community Update Meeting BROWNFIELD

Free summer meals will be provided throughout the Glades by Flipany's Mobile Van.   FLIPANY is an approved Meal Sponsor for The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a program federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). From Commissioner Melissa McKinlay: "On June 18th, Palm Beach County Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks made a presentation on county property values to the Board of County Commissioners. She shared wonderful news about the rise in property values in the Glades: from 2018 to 2019, taxable property values increased an estimated 5.84% in Belle Glade, 5.96% in Pahokee, and 2.55% in South Bay!"

EmpowHER of the Palm Beaches is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 Class of EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls. EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls will empower female students from various schools throughout the Palm Beach County School District. The academy supports diversity and will introduce junior and senior girls to organizations that are led by women executives.

Notice of Funding Opportunity: Senior Housing

The Community Services Department is opening a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) through Financially Assisted Agency (FAA) funding to address Housing for Seniors. The amount of funding to allocate is fixed at $100,000.00 for a two (2) year contract. The project will need to compete for FAA funding again during the 2021 NOFO under the service category of Homelessness. The department will open a NOFO for projects serving seniors who need housing and will provide roommate matching services as well as assistance with locating housing. A senior is defined as any adult over the age of 60.
