FREE FOOD for Anyone in Need at The Glades Initiative

The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

WHEN: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday)
  • 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Wednesday)

FREE Meals Available to Children in Palm Beach County During Summer 2022

School Food Service will continue to offer free meals during the summer, at various schools and libraries throughout the county. Summer BreakSpot offers balanced breakfasts, lunches, snacks or dinners at no cost for kids 18 and under. Meals will be served on site, at no cost, at places like parks, libraries, schools and churches. No identification is required. 

(Children who visit a school or library that serves meals, must remain onsite while they eat their meal. Parent pickup as well as grab-and-go options will not be available, as they are no longer allowed by the United States Department of Agriculture.)

Health Care District to Offer Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to Young Children

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County is now scheduling pediatric patient visits beginning on Tuesday, June 28th with a C. L. Brumback Primary Care Clinics’ pediatrician in order to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for children five months through six years of age.

2021-2022 Food Storage Capacity Grant - Round Two

PB Post: Lakeside Medical Closing Baby Delivering Unit

From the Palm Beach Post:  Lakeside Medical Center, Palm Beach County’s only public hospital, is shutting down its baby-delivery unit citing a drop in births in recent years. The closure leaves expectant mothers in the far western communities of the county almost 30 miles away from the nearest full-service maternity wards.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

PBC Community Services to Offer Air Conditioning Replacement Program to Homeowners

The Crisis Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Replacement Program, through LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program), is working to assist low-income Palm Beach County homeowners in need of replacing their home’s HVAC system, with assistance up to $15,000. This money can be used to replace their home cooling system.

Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies July 2022 Educational Calendar

Educational workshops are for pregnant women and new families. Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies provides free hands-on education programs for parents and support partners. The class instructors are community partners or certified Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies staff.

Are you 60+ Years Old and Interested in a Research Study about Healthy Brain Aging?

This study collects information that will help improve our understanding of healthy brain
aging and explore factors associated with diagnosis, treatment, and progression of
cognitive impairment. We are currently looking for volunteers to participate in this ongoing
research study. Volunteers must be willing to donate a saliva sample and will be invited
to undergo MRI; participation is compensated.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
