The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during the hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).
Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

Sign Unveiling for Melissa's Place FKA Lake Village at the Glades
On Tuesday, March 21, at 11:30 a.m., Palm Beach County will host a sign unveiling for Melissa’s Place, formerly known as the Lake Village at the Glades. The 42-unit transitional housing apartment complex will be renamed in honor of former PBC Commissioner Melissa
McKinlay. She petitioned the commission for $5 million to renovate the foreclosed senior living facility that was in deplorable condition. The two-year-old facility operates on a referral basis and after an assessment, qualified Glades residents can stay in an apartment for up to 24 months while the staff helps them find a job and a new home.

Take Stock in Children Mentor Orientation Sessions
Do you want to make a difference in the life of an underserved student who wants to attend college? MENTOR, for Take Stock in Children and BE THE CHANGE! Our program accepts students 6-9 grade and provides resources, including mentors, college readiness coaches, and advocacy. Upon high school graduation and completing our program, our students earn a two-year college scholarship. We are currently accepting students in the Glades and Pahokee Regions.

Taxes Filed Free Program through United Way of PBC
United Way of Palm Beach County has partnered with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide free, confidential, and secure preparation and efiling of tax returns to qualified taxpayers. To qualify, taxpayer’s income must have been $70,000 or less in 2022. You may be eligible for up to $6,935 in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC). Taxes Filed Free service gives you two options to choose from to e-file your tax return. All options are supported by IRS-Certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers.

This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Summer Camp Scholarship Program for PBC Residents
The Summer Camp Scholarship Program provides full-tuition and fees for summer camp for children residing in families with income at or below 150% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. It allows parents to work with the knowledge that their children are safe. It gives children educational and recreational opportunities for growth. Parents may choose from participating camps in Palm Beach County.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.
If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
