The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

2022 Great Ideas Initiative Information Session

Therapeutic Recreation at Camp Stingray - For Children who Have Experienced the Death of a Loved One

At Camp Stingray, campers have one thing in common – they all know what it is like to experience the death of a loved one. Camp Stingray provides a support system for children ages 5- 10 residing in Palm Beach and Broward Counties who are grieving the death of a loved one. We spend time together learning to cope with our grief through peer support and fun activities with trained counselors. Camp Stingray is open to children who have experienced the death of a loved one more than 3 months ago, as of the date of camp.

Health Officials Issue Blue-Green Algae Bloom Alert for Lake Okeechobee

The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in the Lake Okeechobee RITTAE2 water body. This is in response to a water sample taken on May 4th, 2022. The public should exercise caution in and around this area. This is a recreational surface water alert, drinking water is not affected.

Animal Care & Control is Overcrowded: Dogs Need to Find Homes Soon

Palm Beach County’s Animal Care and Control (ACC) Division needs adopters to come in and adopt dogs. Dog overcrowding is now a very serious problem at ACC. The shelter has recovered from a recent Pneumovirus outbreak and is bursting at the seams with healthy, adoptable dogs. While the shelter is faced daily with increasing numbers of dogs in its care, dogs adoptions are at an all-time low.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
