Grant Opportunity: 2018 Great Ideas Initiative

Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County is releasing funds to encourage local nonprofits to be creative - to try something new, address a community need or fuel a pilot project.  This year, The Great Ideas Initiative targets nonprofits, in business for at least two consecutive years, with operating budgets of $1 million or less that currently do not receive funding from the Council.

Those interested in this opportunity must submit an application by mail or hand-delivered by 2 p.m., July 10, 2018, that shows how their Great Idea would enhance the lives of Palm Beach County's children (prenatal - age 18) and their families.

Summer Program: Gotta Get a Bike

This summer, Jack the Bike Man is opening up a formal summer program for youths 12 to 15 years of age. Applications for the program are now being accepted. Participants gain life skills and develop self-confidence through a hands on bicycle education program. The Gotta Get a Bike Program will incorporate informal mentoring, physical education, community service, centered around instruction on bicycle repair.

World Refugee Day in Lake Worth

This year, members of the Palm Beach Area Refugee Task Force are organizing a World Refugee Day event to be held in Lake Worth. The event's theme this year is "Many Cultures, One Nation" will take place at Palm Beach State College Lake Worth Campus in the Duncan Theater. We have sought the participation of federal, state agencies, Palm Beach County public officials, community organizations, and media. The event will include a naturalization ceremony by USCIS. During this event, various refugee service providers will have information tables with resources for the community.
