The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

WHEN: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday)
  • 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Wednesday)

EXTENDED: Registration for 2022 Back to School PBC! Ends May 23

Registration for the 2022 Back to School PBC! Event has been extended to May 23. Back to School PBC! will be held on Saturday, July 30 at different locations throughout the county to be announced at a later date. Registration is mandatory to participate in this event. Students must reside in designated neighborhoods or mobile home parks in unincorporated Palm Beach County to be eligible to register.

2022 Great Ideas Initiative Information Session

Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County (CSC) is releasing funds (up to $30,000 per grant) to local nonprofits. A Great Ideas Initiative project should do more than fill a gap. It should be driven by the wants and needs expressed by families and communities. It should be an innovative new idea, a creative enhancement to an existing project, or an opportunity to broaden the organization’s community footprint or deepen its ability to effectively carry out its mission.

Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies June 2022 Educational Calendar

Educational workshops are for pregnant women and new families. Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies provides free hands-on education programs for parents and support partners. The class instructors are community partners or certified Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies staff.

Health Officials Issue Blue-Green Algae Bloom Alert for Lake Okeechobee & C51 Canal

The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in the Lake Okeechobee Pahokee Marina, as well as the C51 Canal - S155 (upstream) water body. This is in response to water samples taken on May 17 - 18th, 2022. The public should exercise caution in and around these areas. This is a recreational surface water alert, drinking water is not affected.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

The Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) makes it easy for residents, visitors and businesses to learn more about the treatment process and water quality standards. The department recently published its Annual Water Quality Report, a comprehensive resource designed to help customers understand the data behind the water. Features of the report include summarized easy-to-read charts which explain where Palm Beach County’s drinking water comes from and how it is treated.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
