The Community ID of the Palm Beaches is for ANY resident who may have limited access to government-issued forms of identification, and for those who support a diverse and inclusive community. It is not a government-issued form of ID or a driver’s license, but it is a verifiable form of identification that says you are a part of our community. It can be used as a tool by law enforcement, city agencies, health centers, schools, and businesses to better identify, serve, and protect you.

Children's Services Council Book Giveaway & Pop-up Event
Children's Services Council will give away 2,000 books to area kids to promote literacy and inspire a love of reading among the children of the Glades. The event will also feature a community resource fair with agencies such as Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies, 211, the Early Learning Coalition, and The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, among others. Additional attractions include music, snacks, face painting, the County Playmaker van, the Sheriff's therapy dogs, and plenty of fun. A highlight of the event will be the 'Celebrity Readings,' where Palm Beach media personalities will read books to children from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.

Looking for a summer camp for your youth? Consider the PBSO/PAL Tri-City Sports - Academics & Mentoring Camp. Emergency Repair Assistance Available to PBC Residents
Palm Beach County’s Department of Housing and Economic Development (HED) announces the availability of State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Emergency Repairs Program funds. Funding will provide up to $50,000 to assist income eligible owner occupied residences to address emergency conditions such as roofing, electrical, plumbing, hurricane hardening (impact windows, doors, etc.) and structural repairs.

PBC Cautions About Blue-Green Algae at Lake Okeechobee
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County (DOH-Palm Beach) is cautioning the public of the presence of blue-green algae in Lake Okeechobee - Pahokee Marina on May 23, 2024. Water sample testing is underway. Blue-green algae have the potential to produce toxins. Since environmental conditions can change at any time, it is important to exercise caution, even if presence of toxins has not yet been confirmed.

Farm and Food Worker Relief Program
PBC Community Action in partnership with Coalition of Florida Farmworker Organization, Inc. is assisting in providing this one time $600 payment from the USDA to eligible farmworkers. The relief is intended to defray costs for reasonable and necessary personal, family or living expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic. These payment will be available to eligible farm and food workers who performed work in farming activities and meatpacking during the period 1/27/2020 – 05/9/2023. Workers will need to provide sufficient proof of employment during the period and also identity when applying.

COVID-19 Pandemic Medicaid Coverage to End
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act allocated federal funding to states, allowing them to maintain Medicaid coverage for individuals enrolled in the program. As a result, approximately one million Floridians who are technically ineligible for Medicaid have been able to keep their health coverage since March 2020. However, with the end of the Public Health Emergency, continuous Medicaid coverage will no longer be available.

The Handicap Accessibility and Awareness Grant Program will improve accessibility and increase awareness for the approximately 107,000 disabled persons living in Palm Beach County. Proposed slated funding is $30,000. The grant program will enable any nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency in Palm Beach County, that provides service to persons with disabilities, to apply for funding to improve accessibility and equal opportunity and/or increase public awareness for persons with disabilities.
