The Glades Initiative's Food Pantry is available to anyone in need. Residents may come in once per week at any time during hours listed below. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines).

Food Storage Capacity Grant - Hunger Relief Initiative
United Way of Palm Beach County’s (UWPBC) Hunger Relief Initiative is planning a Food Storage Capacity Grant (FSCG) information session. The goal of the FSCG is to expand food storage capacity in order to minimize food waste and increase the volume of nutritious food available throughout the hunger relief system in Palm Beach County (PBC). Hunger Relief Staff will provide an overview of the application guidelines, eligibility, and required documentation. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in applying for the 2021-2022 Food Storage Capacity Grant – Round 2 scheduled to open June 1, 2022.

On Feb. 24 and 25, 2022, more than 200 staff members and community volunteers participated in the Palm Beach County (PBC) homeless Point-in-Time (PIT) count. Representatives from the Homeless and Housing Alliance (HHA), Palm Beach County Community Services Department (CSD) and many other organizations surveyed individuals and families experiencing homelessness during a 24-hour period.

Up to $10k Available to Eligible Veterans, Spouses for Job Training from CareerSource PBC
In observing Memorial Day, CareerSource Palm Beach County is offering up to $10,000 for occupational training to eligible veterans and military spouses seeking employment through their Careers for Veterans Grant program. The program pays for licenses, degrees and certification to help veterans and their spouses gain credentials for many in-demand careers. More than 400 credentials are available. The program also provides supportive services to cover the cost of books, licensing fees, and even child care.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Health Officials Issue Blue-Green Algae Bloom Alert for Lake Okeechobee & C51 Canal
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in the Lake Okeechobee Pahokee Marina, as well as the C51 Canal - S155 (upstream) water body. This is in response to water samples taken on May 17 - 18th, 2022. The public should exercise caution in and around these areas. This is a recreational surface water alert, drinking water is not affected.
