Glades/Lake Region The Truth About The Youth Teen Summit will be held August 2-4 for youth in grades 6th-12th! Registered youth will participate in informative workshops on Mental Health, College Preparation, Gang Prevention, Racial Equity, Crime Prevention, Careers in Trades, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship. Health Officials Issue Blue-Green Algae Bloom Alert for Lake Okeechobee
The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County has issued a Health Alert for the presence of harmful blue-green algal toxins in Lake Okeechobee - Pahokee. This is in response to a water sample taken on April 24, 2024. The public should exercise caution in and around this area. This is a recreational surface water alert, drinking water is not affected.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.
