The Glades Initiative Pantry of Choice Hours

We hope that the flexibility of our new “Pantry of Choice” hours helps us to serve you better. You may come to shop in the pantry once per week at any time during open hours. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines)! Food will no longer be distributed outside.

Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week

WHEN: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday)

Free Walk-up Pediatric and Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccines

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County reminds families that free, walk-up access to adult and pediatric doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines are available at sites countywide and weekdays.

Palm Beach County Food Finder Map

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Grant Opportunity: 2022 Tau Grant Announcement

Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ FY22 Tau Grants will support capacity-building efforts for organizations or programs that provide services to the following marginalized groups: BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), LGBTQ+, and/or persons with disabilities. GRANT OPPORTUNITY: Hunger Relief Food Storage Capacity Grant Now Open

In accordance with the Hunger Relief Plan, the Food Storage Capacity Grant aims to minimize food waste by increasing storage capacity of food pantries and other non-profit organizations that address food insecurity. The extra storage space will enable the recipient agencies to provide a consistent supply of perishable items, including produce, to a greater number of Palm Beach County residents.

The American Heart Association is partnering with faith leaders and their congregations to prioritize mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. Churches have been successful partners in the fight against high blood pressure, which affects more than half of African American adults, and other diseases and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and metabolic syndrome. Churches can be a great source of information and care, and we are determined to strategically work with faith leaders to shepherd their congregations to being empowered and well.

All virtual grief peer support groups are FREE. For all ages (4+). Orientations held weekly; registration required. Adults (English & Spanish). Groups are facilitated by mental health professionals; Music and art activities included in children's groups; Groups meet virtually every week in the evening via Zoom.

Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies December 2021 Educational Calendar

Educational workshops are for pregnant women and new families. Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies provides free hands-on education programs for parents and their support partners. The class instructors are community partners or certified Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies staff.

In Need of Masks? Contact The Glades Initiative, Inc.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.

Coats for Kids by KTM Youth

PBC Community Services Department Launches Grocery Card Program

The Palm Beach County Community Services Department (CSD) has launched a new Grocery Card Program for eligible Palm Beach County residents. The department is issuing $400 pre-loaded grocery cards to be used for food purchases within the county. The program will end when the funding source has been depleted.
