All South Bay residents are invited to register their child(ren) for this year's toy giveaway at South Bay's City Hall! Only 1 gift per child --4 gifts per household maximum. Need some extra help in school? Students in Grades 3-5 can get free after-school tutoring from certified teachers. Accepted students must attend all sessions.

Healthier Glades Launches Free 5-Week Mini Grant Workshop Series for First-Time Applicants


Have a great idea to make the Glades healthier, stronger, and more connected? Healthier Glades is here to help you bring it to life! From August 20 to September 17, 2025, Healthier Glades will host a free 5-week workshop series designed especially for first-time applicants preparing to apply for this year’s Healthier Glades Mini Grant.


To qualify for this year’s mini grant, participants must attend at least one workshop. However, attending all five increases your chances of receiving the full grant amount if selected. Who Can Apply? 1) Residents who have never applied for or received a Healthier Glades Mini Grant, 2) Grassroots groups without a 501(c)(3) designation and 3) Nonprofits that are less than two years old.

Palm Beach County, in collaboration with its consultant WSP, is inviting the community to help shape the future of transportation through a series of eight public meetings and a public survey, which will be available on the newly launched project website, www.PBCMoves.com. Both efforts are part of the Countywide Transportation Master Plan (CTMP), aimed at improving our roads and transportation systems. Details for the Western PBC / Glades meeting are below.

Citizen’s Criminal Justice Academy Begins 9/17, Register Now!


The CCJA offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how Palm Beach County’s criminal justice system works. From law enforcement and the courts to corrections and community programs, participants will engage directly with professionals in the field. Whether you are simply curious or a committed skeptic, this course is designed for you. Dinner will be served each evening, and participants age 14 and older are welcome to attend. At the end of the program, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion recognizing their participation and commitment to understanding the criminal justice system.

West Technical Education Center's Commercial Driving Cohorts Begins 9/22 - Register Now!


Ready to Start Your Career in Commercial Driving? West Tech offers full-service training and testing for: Class A – $4,391 (Next cohort begins January 2026) and Class B – Commercial, School Bus, Coach Bus – $2,558 (Next cohort begins September 22, 2025).

Program cost includes your first on-site test (BVI, Skills Range, and Road Test). Retests available at an additional cost. Requirements for Admission: CVD Permit, 6-year driving record, DOT physical examiner certificate / card, and Payment or proof of scholarship award.

Train to Become a Volunteer Tutor in the Literacy Coalition's Building Better Readers Program


Tutor two or three students in grades 1-3, one-on-one for 30-minutes each in a local elementary school twice a week.

Glades Pink Walk: Muck, Sweat & Cheers on Oct 18!


On Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 8 AM, we’ll come together at Pahokee Parks & Rec Field for the Glades Pink Walk: Muck, Sweat & Cheers. This walk is more than exercise—it’s hope, strength, and support for our neighbors fighting breast cancer. Proceeds will help Pink Warriors, who provide vital resources and services in Western Palm Beach County and Hendry County. Registration: $25 individual | $100 team of 5.

People of Purpose, Inc. Presents: Walk in My Shoes Fundraiser


You’re invited to the “Walk in My Shoes” event on November 15, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM. This year’s theme: “Breaking Generational Cycles”, highlights the impact of Returning Citizens transforming lives. Sponsorships are available August 15–October 15. Tickets are $55 until Oct. 15. Ticket price after this date will be $65. Table of 10: $500. All proceeds support reentry success and second chances. There is a tennis competition - the best-looking tennis will win a $100 Prize.
