Glades PATCH Meeting The Glades PATCH (Planned Approach To Community Health) is a program designed to help the community evaluate, plan and implement health education and disease prevention and intervention programs. PATCH helps promote the health of the community to include social, emotional and physical well-being of its citizens. PATCH is a partnership of concerned citizens and organizations. This partnership provides a forum for identifying health problems affecting the community and mobilizing the community to plan, conduct and evaluate intervention services. The meeting is open to all who wish to join.

School District to Offer Free Meals to Students Through October 20
"The School District of Palm Beach County has received a waiver to offer free meals to all students from Monday, September 18 through Friday, October 20, due to the impact of Hurricane Irma on the District and the state of Florida.
Breakfast is always free in Palm Beach County, and for the next month, the District is pleased to be able to provide lunch meals at no cost as well ..."

Computer Basics for Seniors at West County Senior Center
Join West County Senior Center for a Computer Basic class on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. Classes will provide an introduction to using the mouse and keyboard, basic instruction from turning the computer on to performing basic computer tasks.

CareerSource: Palm Beach County Adds 15,700 Jobs Over the Year
"CareerSource Palm Beach County announced a bit of good news this week -- the county's 4.4 percent unemployment rate for August 2017 dropped below the year-ago rate of 5.3 percent. Florida's unemployment rate is 4.2 percent and the national rate is 4.5 percent, all numbers not seasonally adjusted, according to reports released today by CareerSource Palm Beach County and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity ..."

Nominations Accepted for 2017 Barry Krischer Humanitarian Award
The YWCA of Palm Beach County is still accepting nominations for its 2017 Barry Krischer Humanitarian Award. Established in 2008 to honor the then-retiring State Attorney, the award recognizes a law enforcement, social services or health care professional or organizational unit that has gone beyond the normal "call of duty" or what normally would be expected of the current job responsibilities to assist or advocate for a victim of domestic violence.
