The Glades Initiative Invites You to Host an On the Table Event This November

In conjunction with the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, The Glades Initiative, as part of the steering committee, invites you to host your your own On the Table event in the Glades in November. Last year, over 4,000 residents from Palm Beach and Martin Counties came together to discuss meaningful ideas to strengthen our community. On the Table connects individuals and communities of diverse perspectives and backgrounds. They gather over a meal, coffee, or cocktails to talk about their experiences-and listen to their neighbors-with the goal of creating a more unified community. 

WHEN: Wednesday, November 13, 2019
WHERE: At community centers, local restaurants, libraries, private homes, offices - anywhere a host chooses. Conversations can be sit-down, catered, picnic, or potluck - up to each host

Victim Services is partnering with both the City of Belle Glade, BRIDGES at Belle Glade and BRIDGES at Pahokee to bring awareness around Domestic Violence. The committee will be hosting a "Jam for Peace" Community Event at BRIDGES at Belle Glade.  There will be testimonies and performances from those who have experienced and survived domestic violence. The Community is encouraged to participate in this ev ent.

FREE Transportation for Glades Seniors: Norton Museum's Inaugural Latinx Community DayNORTON
 
The Norton Museum of Art is hosting its inaugural Latinx Community Day to celebrate South Florida's unique, diverse population and the Norton's growing collection of Latin America art. Free bus transportation is being provided for the senior population (55 and above) from the Glades area (Belle Glade, Clewiston, Okeechobee, Pahokee and South Bay - etc.).

Registration for the 2019 Salvation Army Angel Tree Program will be held at West Technical Education Center and the Pahokee Community Center. This program is a needs-based program meant to serve the neediest families with small children during the Christmas season. Families who struggle month to month, have recently lost work or who are undergoing an emergency may apply for assistance through this program.

Get Your Driver's License Back and Save on Fees
 
On Saturday, Oct. 19, the Clerk's office is authorized to waive collection agency fees - some as high as 40 percent - for anyone who pays off their court obligations in full or signs up for a monthly payment plan. Those who pay their debts or go on a monthly payment plan will also be able to reinstate their suspended driver's license in most cases.
