China Program Update:  Since our January newsletter went out, 4 families in the program have received Letter Seeking Confirmations (LSC) and 2 families have received Travel Approvals (TA) and are planning their trips!

Three families have left and come back from China with their children and we currently have three more families in country right now! We wish them all the best as they meet and bond with their children.

With the New Year holiday, offices in China will be closed to allow staff to celebrate with friends and family. CCCWA will be closed from 2/15 - 2/21. The US Consulate in Guangzhou will be closed on 2/15 and 2/16.

As we transition from partnership referrals to utilizing the shared list database as an option for matching families, we are excited to share that we made a referral to one of our waiting families from the shared list just this morning! It is an exciting moment for a family to be presented with an unexpected referral and to consider the opportunity to move forward in the adoption process. We anticipate many more moments like this over the year!
Taiwan Program Update:  We currently have six families matched to children, and seven families with pending matches to waiting children! One family will be traveling later this month to complete the adoption of their 3 year old son!

Last month we had one family travel to attend their court hearing. We are finding that the courts in Taiwan are requesting that most adoptive families attend the court hearing. This is usually a quick trip, with adoptive parents spending about 4 days in Taiwan. While in Taiwan, adoptive parents get to spend a couple of days with their child/ren - which is a wonderful way to start bonding and to get a better sense of some of the immediate needs your child will have once they come home. Staff at our partner agencies help to prepare the adoptive parents for the court hearing, and also attend the hearing. The court process is usually finalized about 3 months after the hearing.

We are currently advocating for over 90 waiting children from Taiwan. If you haven't already, don't forget to join our private Facebook group where we share photos and videos of waiting children from Taiwan!

Adoption News

Announcement from the Department of State

Recently, the Department of State sent out a notice to provide some clarity on families who need to file the N-600 and N-600K. They have updated their webpage on US Citizenship for an Adopted Child to answer some frequently asked questions. We will be answering questions like this at our gathering at Gladney Center on February 25, -- so review your child's file and swing by if you have any questions we can help you with!

Families who live abroad will especially benefit from reading and understanding these updates as they shed light on filing paperwork to receive a Certificate of Citizenship (COC)

Families who already have their child's Certificate of Citizenship do NOT need to file the N-600 or the N-600K!

If you are an Expatriate and have not yet received your COC from USCIS and are living abroad, please email Gongzhan Wu for information (whether or not you have a US passport for your child).
