Women #SparkingChange Here & Now | |
As a women-led organization, GlassRoots is especially proud to honor Women’s History Month by highlighting women sparking change right here, right now!
This month's Featured Community Member, Dr. Emily Tancredi-Brice Agbenyega, exemplifies this through her incredible work implementing NJIT's college-wide Civic Engagement program. As an Albert Dorman Honors College University Lecturer, she worked closely with GlassRoots Director of Programs, Michelle Knox, to donate jewelry handmade at GlassRoots by her Honors Students for the children of Wynona's House. This year, our partnership continues with a mosaic beautification project for a local school involving several community partners!
Reflecting on the significance of Women's History Month, Dr. Tancredi-Brice Agbenyega shared, "I do think that the ability to make and seek connections, the fluidity of creative thinking and being open to collaboration are feminine traits - regardless of how you identify. If part of Women's History Month can be celebrating these feminine qualities now (if it doesn't happen throughout the year) that can be a great thing!"

| | GlassRoots Thanks the Turrell Fund | |
The Turrell Fund, established in 1935 by Herbert and Margaret Turrell, is a foundation supporting organizations in New Jersey and Vermont which provide quality services to children, especially the youngest and underserved. Like GlassRoots, the Turrell Fund believes that the arts change lives, improve self esteem and create connections. We also share their belief that regardless of socioeconomic background or zip code, all children deserve access to high-quality arts education.
GlassRoots is grateful to the Turrell Fund for its partnership which began nearly twenty years ago. Since then, we have consistently received grants for our after school programs for Greater Newark youth.
