Hard to believe that we are already into July! The season is off to a great start, we have already had two member events, leagues are in full swing.
Congratulations Patti Parker! Patti aced the 2nd hole Sunday, May 29th, witnessed by John Allen, Joan Ramsey, and Jim Endall.
The 2-person best ball event came down to a two-team race for the gross score team champions with Greg Sutherland and Craig Maloney pulling it out in the end to secure a victory. Greg and Craig had a strong finish to pull away from Grant and Luke Baldwin in the final few holes carding a final score of 64!
Congratulations Greg and Craig!
On June 7th we were proud to support the Global Community by recognizing Women’s Golf Day. With the help of Josh and Carter, we offered a couple of clinics and invited ladies to enjoy a complimentary round on the Deerfield Par3. We look forward to building on the success of our first year being involved in the program in the years to come.
We were also lucky enough to have Adam Bazalgette, former Director of Instruction for
David Leadbetter Golf Academy, make the trip from his home in Florida to conduct a couple of clinics. If you missed the clinics this season, we hope to have Adam back next year to share his knowledge again. I had the pleasure of helping Adam out one of the days and I was amazed at how quickly he was able to see subtle points in a swing that needed a bit of attention. I highly recommend taking the opportunity to attend Adam’s clinic if we are lucky enough to have him joins us again next season.
Now that we have reminisced, here are a few things that are happening in July. We start the month with the release of Match Play draws. Match play competitions will run throughout the playing season. Matches are fun, foster club spirit and are closely followed by the membership.
Next week starting July 4th – 10th we are taking part of the National Take a Kid to the Course event
Deerfield Par3
One youth under 16 is free when accompanied by a paying adult. Tell your friends, as remember this is a community course that all can enjoy! Stopping by Bunkers or The Deerfield Pub makes is quite the day.
Championship Course

July 9th – 2-Person Scramble
This is a fun format to come out and enjoy a round with friends. The event is open to all adult and intermediate members. The entrance fee is $20 plus tax per player, with prizing for the winning teams, competitions, and random draws.
July 31st – Junior Tee Times
Starting Sunday, July 31st we will be blocking off times in the afternoon for our juniors to book and play with other juniors. We will also be conducting clinics prior to their tee times to help the different aspects of the game such as etiquette, rules, and the swing. Look for more details on the Glen Arbour app.
Pace of Play
As the weather gets increasing warmer the course is getting busier with the weekend noticeably in higher demand than the weekdays. An exceptionally slow day on the golf course can be extremely frustrating and this policy is intended to address those situations and individuals and to be fair to all. The success of this initiative will not rid the golfing world of all slow play problems, but it will greatly enhance the enjoyment of a round of golf. The keys to its success are awareness and consideration of fellow golfers! The policy is not intended to get rid of appropriate times of discretion and it will continue to be important for staff to use their best judgment when monitoring the golf course.
The expected pace of play for Glen Arbour Golf Club is 4:15 (four hours and fifteen minutes). This is maximum allotted time for a foursome to complete 18 holes of golf. There are many situations where a groups’ pace should be less than 4:15 (i.e. a group playing very early in the day, a threesome playing when the course is not busy etc.).
1. Players are responsible to keep up with the group in front of them at all times.
2. To be considered on pace, groups must be within 1 shot of the group ahead of them.
3. When there is no group in front to use as a reference, a playing time of a maximum of 2 hours shall be used per 9 holes.
4. For the first 2 hours of tee times, groups will be asked to play in 2 hours or less per 9 holes.
5. Groups unable to keep up will be requested to move to the appropriate position on the course.
