I hope you're doing well. This is a busy time of year for us here at Glen-L as it seems lots of people are getting ready to start building their very own boat for the next boating season! Plus, since we carry inboard hardware, there are a lot of people needing struts and shafts, propellers or other items. It keeps us hopping! We sure do appreciate the business, by the way.

Our 10th annual Gathering of Glen-L boatbuilders is quickly approaching so be sure and read the notice about it below if you're interested. It's in Guild, Tennessee and is a great opportunity for you to see our designs in person.

Glen-L Squirt
built by Art Atkinson, Bloomfield Village, MI

Congratulations to Art Atkinson for taking second place in the Contemporary/Replica class at Les Cheneaux Island Antique Wooden Boat show!
His Squirt, named "Work of Art" is shown above.

My dad and I often talk about how things have changed in the 97 years he’s been around. He was born in 1918 and not many people had cars or telephones, the movies were silent and radio or live theatre was the entertainment. Women didn’t work outside the home and men knew how to do just about anything.

When my father started Glen-L, a lot more people built things by hand. Mostly because they couldn’t afford it otherwise but also because they had more of an “I can do it myself” attitude. Our plans and patterns are very detailed and provide all the information to build an awesome boat. But, there was never any information included on how to wire your boat for any electronics you want to have on board.

Here are photos of flipping this 28′ version of the Monte Carlo. Sorry they are a little out of order! It is a process that is safe and usable for any boat where you have no overhead structure to work with. The 13.5′  Power Row Skiff  was my first boat build. The plans were given to me as a gift a few years ago and I finally got around to starting. At first glance at the plans I  was wondering “where are the missing sheets” but after studying them and going through the process I figured it out.

Glen-L Forum member, Graham recently registered his Glen-L boat in Canada. He posted such a great detailed step-by-step outline of what to do that I asked his permission to reprint it on our Blog. Many of you ask about registering your boat and this should be helpful for those of you in Canada.  Read the article here

For those of you in the US, the rules are different for every state. There's a great website that links to where to register your boat in your state--just click on your state here!
