Lots to share in this June update including some BIG NEWS related to our ministry and some BIG NEWS related to our son, Caleb, as well.

Big News: Next Chapter in God's Call on Our Lives

We are EXCITED to share some news with you: The Lord has made it clear that we are to take a big step of faith and start our own marriage ministry called Abiding Marriage! This is not something we ever dreamed we would do, but the call from the Lord is unmistakable, so we are following His lead – one step at a time. And our excitement grows with each step, knowing this is His ministry and we are only stewards of what He has birthed!

As we have prayed and sought His vision for this ministry, the Lord has given us a three-fold focus for Abiding Marriage:

1) Continue to provide biblical marriage counseling to couples without fees.
2) Invest in and help build up the next generation of marriages.
3) Train other married couples to walk alongside couples in marriage discipleship.

Leaving Marriage Revolution was not in our plans, but the Lord has made it clear that it is His plan. We are leaving Marriage Revolution on the best of terms. We love Hans and Star and the team God has assembled, and will miss the weekly calls and interactions we share as a team. We are extremely thankful to Hans and the Board of Marriage Revolution for the way they have invested in us. We would not be who we are today without their sacrifice and investment in our lives! August 15th will be our last day on staff with Marriage Revolution.

There is more we want to share, but don't have the space here to do that. So we hope to connect with you individually by phone or Zoom over the next 30 days. When we connect, we can answer any specific questions, give more details about Abiding Marriage, and share with you the opportunity to keep your financial support with us. Our Transition: Find a Time to Connect with Glen and Shawn
We really do look forward to connecting with you, our Ministry Partners, as we share with you God's calling to start Abiding Marriage and answer any questions you may have as well. We have set up specific times that we are available (from June 18-July 17) on a scheduling software called Setmore:

  • When you click on the link below, you will be taken to that site and you can choose a 30 minute call, a 45 minute call, or a 40 minute Zoom call.
  • After selecting from these three options, simply choose a time and day that works for you.
  • Setmore will send you and us an email confirming the call that you set up.
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your phone call, you can use the email confirmation you received to do that. Just look for the buttons to “Reschedule” or Cancel Appointment”.
  • There is also an easy way to add that appointment to your calendar from your confirmation email.

More Big News: Our Youngest Son, Caleb is Engaged!!

Yes, we have more BIG NEWS to share - our youngest son, Caleb, is engaged! He proposed about 10 days ago - and we are thrilled that Taylor said YES!!

Taylor (19) and Caleb (21) have known each other for more than 4 years and have been officially dating for the last 2 1/2. We love Taylor and have known her family for years, as we attend the same church. They are planning for a wedding this December, and hopeful they can work on the details to make that happen.

Please pray for Caleb and Taylor in these months of preparation before the wedding day: 1) pray for continued resistance to temptation, 2) for the right couple to take them through pre-marital counseling, and 3) for them to put God as "first-place" in their life as a young married couple. Thanks for those prayers for Caleb and Taylor!

JUNE 2021 PRAYER REQUESTS: OUR TRANSITION

GOD LEADING: In the midst of our transition from Marriage Revolution to Abiding Marriage, it is easy to get lost in the many, many things to do OR to get overwhelmed by all that needs to get done. Pray that we would truly keep God in His rightful place during this super-busy season. That we could continue to pursue the Lord as our "first love" and trust Him to continue to lead us, day-by-day, and step-by-step!

BOARD OF DIRECTORS: As a non-profit ministry, Abiding Marriage will need to have a Board of Directors. Please pray earnestly that God ALONE would be directing who those people will be. This is a pivotal season and we need the right people to be used by God to help direct our every step.

LOTS OF SYSTEMS TO PUT IN PLACE: There are lots and lots of systems we need to get in place for Abiding Marriage to exist and thrive. This includes things like a scheduling system for counseling clients, donation software for folks to give their gifts, and many more. Please pray, with the many choices available, that the Lord would lead us to the right solutions that will be in place for years to come and serve the needs of the ministry well!

LEGAL STUFF: Starting a non-profit ministry like Abiding Marriage requires a lot of legal paperwork - both with the State of Arkansas, and the federal government. We have enlisted the services of a highly-recommended attorney here in Little Rock to help facilitate this as quickly as possible. Please pray that God would give us favor in getting these legal requirements completed in the next 3-4 months - no later than year-end.

HONORING GOD AND OTHERS: Finally, pray that, in the midst of this transition, we would honor the Lord, honor Hans and the leadership of Marriage Revolution, and all the others involved in this process. Ultimately, we strongly desire to see God glorified and His Kingdom built in every step of this process!
