SCRO is thrilled to announce the appointment of Glenn De Baeremaeker as the new Chair of the Scarborough Walk of Fame.
Glenn De Baeremaeker is a passionate city builder, environmentalist, community and transit advocate and former Scarborough councillor and Deputy Mayor (East) in the City of Toronto.
"Look at the names on the stars embedded in the Scarborough Walk of Fame and you'll see a record of tremendous accomplishment. It's Scarborough at it's finest - and I'm thrilled to be joining the organization, said the 15-year former councillor."
After graduating from UofT Scarborough Campus, Glenn proposed the creation of a joint National/Provincial Park in the Rouge when he was 26 years old and has spent the last 36 years fighting to protect the park, once of the largest urban parks in the world.
Glenn was elected to Toronto Council in 2003 and lead the charge on numerous Scarborough initiatives.
Glenn was inducted onto the Scarborough Walk of Fame in 2022.
The Scarborough Walk of Fame court is at the Scarborough Town Centre and features named stars on the floor as well as video tributes.
The deadline is fast approaching to nominate the next round of recipients of a star on Scarborough's own walk of fame. Nominees are accepted through Oct. 15 and can be made online at:

Previously recognized stars include: entertainer Lilly Singh, gold medal hockey player Natalie Spooner, educator Dr. Vicki Bismilla and long-serving police services veteran Jay C. Hope. A full list appears on the www.scarboroughwalkoffame.com website.
The Scarborough Walk of Fame induction will be in April 2024 at Scarborough Town Centre.
