Glens Falls : A Winning Team Shares
Secrets to Success
We all know collaboration is a powerful way to leverage experience, resources and assets. What I have discovered over the last couple of months, spending time getting to know the folks in the arts and business district of downtown Glens Falls, feels like a best practice case study that needed to be shared. Meet the players - the Glens Falls BID, the Collaborative and the Arts District.

Building on Strength : A Conversation with Glens Falls Mayor Bill Collins
To help understand the context of what is happening in downtown Glens Falls, it seemed like a good idea to touch base with Mayor Bill Collins. I met him at a meeting discussing our upcoming event at Park Theater later this month when he unexpectedly showed up to help strategize. His comments helped me to understand the role his office is currently playing in helping to bring resources to support the growth and expansion of the economy of Glens Falls and importantly, the creative sectors.

Street Art : Graffiti as Gravity | Part 2
In this segment of Street Art / Graffiti as Gravity: Part II of III - Cities with 'Speak Art' Vibes, Taliesin considers another angle of local art initiatives - the financial side of the equation. We all know that art is also about business at every level, so how does the money make its way into the street as street art? To understand more, she turned her focus to the creative economies of Troy, Albany, and Glens Falls as a trifecta case study.

CAPNY ACTIVATE! 3 ARTS AND CULTURAL FESTIVALS FOR FAMILY FUN
Summer time for me as a child, meant practically living outdoors until school started. We played outside for hours with friends, our parents took us on picnics and hikes... but our favorite was going to festivals. As an adult, I love festivals even more than I did as a child, and my own children love exploring craft and vendor tables for unique handmade treasures or collectables. We plan meal times around visiting the various food vendors at each unique arts or cultural event.
I love handmade crafts and eclectic art, and finding things to bring home and display. More than one or many times actually, I've also been known to "accidentally" forget to bring a bag or tote of my own and of course I must buy a new tote, purse or reusable bag to hold all my festival finds in. My family thinks I do it on purpose, because I have a reusable bag obsession... and maybe, they are on to me. LOL.
Here are a few wonderful Arts and Cultural Festivals located in the Capital Region that are worth putting on your calendar and planning to bring your family to and spend the day at...

INSIDE ACE! | CREATING A NEW PATH

Peak event season has arrived in Upstate New York and its a struggle keeping up with all the amazing arts and cultural offerings coming to bear! The main focus over here at ACE! has been our upcoming event in Glens Falls on August 18th at the Park Theater. We decided to significantly explore the city through the creative economy lens. I was especially excited to see the deep collaborative nature that is happening there, one that is palpable when you walk the downtown streets of the well manicured city. I invite you to have a taste of that special sauce by joining us for our upcoming Arts / Business District Street Festival and Creative Economy Panel Discussion. RSVP link and detailed information in the panel below.
Additionally, we are preparing for the 4th Annual Pop Up Beer Garden and Neighborhood Block Party event on the Russell Sage Campus at the Opalka Gallery in Albany. This series opening event is sure to be well supported with a super strong and creative line up including Druthers Brewing, the 2022 Screen Print Biennial opening event, plant based edible delights by Meadowlark Catering and the Graham Tichey Trio. More participants to share and more on that to come in our September newsletter.
