Les Djeunes : Sortie en Kayak

Two years after our last kayak event, here we go again!

Pagayez  ! Join us Friday, August 23 for a kayak trip on Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun) for a sortie en kayak with  Les Djeunes , AFMSP’s group for French speaking high schoolers.
Rendez-vous at 10 am at Wheel Fun Rentals at  3000 Calhoun Parkway, Minneapolis  to coordinate kayaks and safety before we get in the water.

We hope you have  le sens de l’aventure , and that you’re not afraid to get in the water. We will be spend as much of the sortie as possible speaking  en français, bien sûr !

Did you know that Broken Box Mime Theater is performing in Minneapolis soon? An NYC-based non-profit that collaboratively creates original, contemporary plays through mime aims to activate the imagination of audiences, contemporize the art of mime, and remind us all of the power of simple storytelling. Performance dates listed above!

ABOUT THE ENSEMBLE : recipient of New York Innovative Theater Awards for Outstanding Ensemble, Movement/Choreography, and Performance Art Production, supported by city and state funding, and currently in residence teaching Physical Storytelling at The New School. BKBX Kids! Is a division of BKBX, and aims to inspire unplugged creativity in children and families by way of joyful, movement-based storytelling. “We celebrate the power of shared imaginative experience and challenge audiences to explore new ways to create, connect, and communicate!”
On Friday, August 23 rd , at the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts Greg Cash will discuss the  French Fur Trade in Minnesota. You have the opportunity to learn about the arrival of Médard Chouart des Groseilliers and Pierre Esprit Radisson in the Minnesota Valley, to the establishment of l a Compagnie de la Baie d'Hudson ( Hudson’s Bay Company), to the building of Fort Snelling. Greg will also present on the creation of the Indian Agency to control the region’s fur trade in the early 1800’s and the establishment of the American Fur Company.  Join us for conversation en français  at the beautiful University Club of St Paul.

The Alliance Française of Minneapolis/St. Paul and the University Club of St Paul welcome you to this casual monthly French conversation group. Join us the second Thursday of every month on the hills of Summit Avenue, from 6 to 7:30 pm, for an  Apéritif en français .

This group is led by AF member and volunteer Brad Givot with Alliance Française instructors and staff members joining as possible.

Membership in the University Club is not required to attend. All are welcome!

Looking for a French Speaking Nanny
Starting at the end of August, we are searching for a nanny who speaks French to work Monday, Wednesday, Friday 11:30am-2:30pm OR Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am-12:30pm. Infant experience and infant CPR certification is needed. Contact Ciara Dall for more information.

AFMSP is looking for someone interested in helping lead the Lectures Faciles group! If you would like to know more about this role, please email Sara or Brian . It is a low commitment position - one meeting per month and the ability to comfortably guide other readers through a beginner-level French text.
Looking for 2 Babysitters For a Weekend in August
Nous recherchons 2 Babysitters dans le cadre d'un mariage à Nisswa le 3 aout 2019. Il s'agit d'u mariage americano-francais, au moins une personne comprenant et parlant le français est souhaitée. Il s'agira d'assurer la garde de 5 enfants (6 mois x3 / 2 ans / 3 ans) sur une période allant du samedi 16.00 au dimanche 2.00 sur le site du mariage (Quaterdeck resort) où nous mettrons un espace à disposition. Students Looking For Host Families
Students traveling through APEC (Association pour la Promotion des Echanges Interculturels) are matched with host families by the Vistas In Education program! Host families DO NOT need to speak French but must have a student of approximately the same age (generally within 16 months). For more information on the students, email Rosa.
French horseriding camp in Northfield
Anyone ages 9 and up can learn the basics of horseback riding and taking care of these beautiful animals in a weeklong summer camp July 22 to 26, 2019.
