Stay Ahead of Proposed Continuing Education Changes

The New Jersey State Legislature passed Bill S4219, which amends the continuing education requirements for real estate licensees and the regulation of certain real estate continuing education providers, instructors, and courses.

The bill now heads to Gov. Sherrill's desk. Please note: if enacted, the requirements will not take effect until next CE cycle, July 1, 2027.

If signed into law, the legislation will increase the biennial continuing education requirement for brokers, broker-salespersons, and salespersons from 12 to 18 hours while establishing updated mandatory topic requirements, including Fair Housing, Ethics, Agency, Fiduciary Responsibility, Current Issues & Legal Updates, and Real Estate Licensee Safety. Also, referral licensees would have to complete 2 hours of CE each cycle.
